We both garden. She has a yard to actually put things in the ground, and I have my plants in pots. I'm more focused on avocados and limes, so I can make guac. She is growing a variety for salads and sides.

His family has lived in California since he was very little and they plan on moving to WA when he graduates as they have their family up there.

Damien is sensitive to spontaneous questions and prefers to initiate topics to talk about, I've found following his lead and asking opened questions about that to be most productive in building rapport and trust

ST seems to be very family oriented as they have a multi generational home and ST typically talks about activities done with other family members

-From the list I can learn more about how he feels about being a younger brother and an older brother

-We have in common that we both enjoy basketball (even though our teams are rivals) during basketball season we always have a lot to talk about but I would like to talk and reflect more on how he feels being a middle child since I am a middle child too!

I could ask more about their family traditions, what he enjoys to do for his workouts and how is progressing with his goals, what kinds of artists he likes to listen to, ask more about his extended family he visits. One thing we have in common is goal to exercise more.

I could ask questions about her strategies to keeping her plants alive and which ones she loves most.

I like to ask about her time in Japan and different things about her tattoos, if she is getting more, if she would get more and why.

In common, is that I absolutely love my family and friends too but don't have the guts to get a tattoo.

I like that I can talk to her about how I just traveled to Japan last spring so I like to hear more about the culture and some more spots I could go to the next time I'm there.

He lights up when we talk about saying goodbye on the phone call hah but also occasionally when I ask about weekend plans and he has some he seems to like to share his plans.

He lives in a multi generational household with grandmother and mother. Strong female presence in his household.

He really wants to have time to get into martial arts and get into a gym.

I know very little about his background, though his mom shared that no one in the family has finished college.

Something we both have in common is taking care of an elderly relative. I and other family members did that for about a decade.

I believe STs that are hesitant to share and build trust need more investment from adults and modeling to let them know its safe to share, take academic risks, and grow.
