Fake News Presentation Assignment

Part 1: Understanding Ground News

Ground News is a platform that compares how different media outlets report the same story. It shows bias using ratings from independent organizations and displays it through a Bias Bar (left, center, right).

The Blindspot section shows stories covered mostly by one political side, helping readers notice missing viewpoints and avoid echo chambers.

Part 2: Real News Example

Title: “Escalation in the Border Conflict: Why Thailand and Cambodia Fight Again at the Border”

Ground News shows that different outlets report this border conflict with different tones. Some focus on historical tensions, others blame military actions, while some emphasize the impact on civilians.

For example:

-Left-leaning sources highlight human rights concerns.

-Right-leaning sources focus on national security.

-Center sources try to stay neutral.

This helps readers understand the full picture and how bias affects public perception.

Conclusion

Ground News reveals how even real news can be shown differently by each side. By comparing views, it helps us avoid fake news and see the truth from more than one angle.
