In my free time I really enjoy being outdoors and active. Horse riding is one of my favourite hobbies as well as hiking and cycling. I also like to spend time traveling and exploring new places. 

Previously I’ve lived in Islay, North Cyprus and most recently Beijing where I taught at a Nord Anglia school. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in China so I’m grateful for the opportunity to return.

Next year will be my eighth year at NAIS and I live here with part of my family, my son, who graduated from NAIS 3 years ago and is now graduating from Surrey Uni in July, resides in England. Mark, my husband, also works at school in the PE Department and our daughter will be in her last year of IB.
In contrast to my other two here, I am not as sporty, however, I do love a walk in the nearby parks (where we also take our younger students for their monthly Forest School experience) and have recently taken up pottery and knitting.
I am confident that you will be happy here as we have a very supportive and caring Primary team. Over the years, I have made life-long friends.

I have been in Shanghai now for 6 years and have loved every second of the experience. 

I came here alone in August 2016 from my hometown of Manchester. However, coming alone wasn't an issue as the NAIS community is so welcoming. I have built my own Shanghai family and there is always someone to hang out with or spend time with. We certainly are a social bunch!

When I am not in the classroom, I love travelling and have experienced some amazing places here in China. Last summer I spent my time travelling across the country and fell in love all over again with the culture, people and the uniqueness that is China! Xian in Shaanxi has to be my absolute highlight of China so far.

I love getting out into the city and exploring new restaurants and bars. The beauty of Shanghai is that there is always something new to see, somewhere new to eat and something new to try.

Primary is a wonderful place to work with a real family vibe! I am sure you will all be very very happy here :)

I have taught in the UK, Australia and South East Asia, both in education (Primary, Secondary, Sixth form, Degree programmes) and the professional arts industry. I've worked on some fabulous projects, collaborating with dancers/actors/designers/composers, to choreograph and direct work for stage, film and site-specific performances. Last year I was the regional lead for Performing Arts across Southeast Asia and it has been great to get to know so many wonderful teachers across the NAE family.

I am sure there are challenges ahead with the current circumstances in Shanghai, but I have been reassured by many just how wonderful Shanghai is as a city. I'm a firm believer that a positive attitude will lead to positive outcomes!

Joining here as a single back then, now I have a wonderful wife and two entertaining toddlers aged 3.5 and 1.5 years, who kept me out of my sports and gym for a number of years 🤪🤪.
