At the event there were a lot of creative universities such as art universities. I went over to a lot universities and asked them some prepared questions. most of the universities that I went to were based in London. I got a lot of useful information from the event, and it opened my eyes to what universities I could go to, I got a lot of prospectus's which will help me further in what subjects I could do related to the media. I first went to a talk about what the film course was like. The talk included what previous projects were like, how the teachers will support you, what opportunities there are, what previous students have gone on to do and what the co structure is like. After the talk I went on a tour of the whole building. We went over the whole building covering the art departments, media departments including studios, production departments (for props) and the fashion department (for costumes). The institute works the same way as a normal university but you get the degree over a two year course. I found this quite interesting so I decided to go for a tour of their London Campus. The building was quite small and was the opposite of what I was expecting. I expected great advanced facilities but instead they were very basic and didn't offer much in a creative aspect even though they did have industry standard software. The institute didn't stand out to me at all and was not what I was looking for at all. At the same time I did not like the price as it was £9250 a year but half of that was a student loan and the other half was out of your own money paid directly to SAE. In the end I was glad that I went as I got to see what it was like for myself and narrowed down the choice for universities even more. On the applicant day I learnt a lot about the university in terms of facilities, course structure and extra curricular activities. On the day I went to a couple of lectures which were examples of what real lectures would be like. I also experienced what a normal class would be like. after all the taster session I went on a tour of the campus, I saw all the facilities and liked them a lot. It was near to exact to what I was looking for. In order to enter the competition you had to submit a piece of creative work that you worked on/ created this could be a short film music video ect... I decided to enter my music video from my first year of college but first I deiced to re-edit it to make it even better. After I re-edited it I enter the competition with little hope of winning. The prize for the winner would be a high end DSLR camera, a crew role on Amar's next film, publicity and the actual award. A short while later I got an email saying I had won, I couldn't believe that I had won. This award should lead me on to much greater things and hopefully be my first big step into the film industry. We were given new choices and I was very interested in an advertising company which make their adverts using CGI called HMX media. The company is based in Cancery lane in London. After doing research into the company I was even more interested in them and decided to do work experience there. The college then contacted the work place and a couple of days later I found out the work place had accepted me for work experience. I was required to do a minimum of 30 hours and had to work from 10am to 4pm with an hours break. I quickly realized that this amount of hours would not be enough so every single day for the week I worked till 5pm instead of 4pm, the company did not mind this at all. The company was split into two parts the production team and the creative/ CGI team. I was working on the production team. My tasks involved finding stock images to be used in the adverts, finding locations that fit in with a brief, completing very long Microsoft excel tables (for an online shop: was a simple task but took a whole day to complete). I also had to find images of a specific mode and model of transportation and had to take videos of a product interface. During the week I also sat in a couple of meetings, this was very interesting, engaging and taught me a lot of new advertising termenology. One of the largest tasks involved cleaning out a store room full of equipment and miscellaneous items and organizing lockers full of hard drives. The task took a couple of days to complete but I was quite successful and helped out the work place a lot. I had two interviews for Ravensbourne university and one for the alternative Westminster course. The Ravensbourne interviews went very well they asked questions about equipment, course decisions and creativity. The university asked to see my work for the television course I brought a portfolio of my work and for the film course I made a show reel showcasing all my best work. They seemed to like my work a lot. Westminster university was a group interview, I was in a group with 4 other students and we were asked a lot of different questions to do with television. UAL and Westminster university declined me while all the others excepted. Although Westminster did offer me to do television compared to film and I got accepted for that course instead. As a whole I was very happy to get four out of my five offers. I have applied for £9250 to cover the first year of university as you have to reapply for each year of university. As I am not of UK nationality I had to send my passport as evidence. After a couple of week's I received my passport back along with a form which I had to fill out. The form also requires more evidence. i am currently in the process of filling out the form and finding the evidence required. The Talk covered what a student finance loan is, how to apply for it and how repaying the loan works. It also covered maintenance loans and why they are useful and why you might need them. In the personal statement I had to include all of the skills that I had. I included the ability to make effective pre-production materials because in any media course pre-production is incredibly important and me stating this represents that I have good planning skills. The courses that  applied for are all fairly creative, because of this I put down my ability to edit footage with adobe premier and film using a DSLR camera. These skills are crucial in the courses I applied for and represents a strong understanding of creative aspects of the media. I put down that I have skills with After effects. After effects is a very complicated visual effects program and requires a lot of planning and research. As I can use it, it demonstrates good planning ,research and creative skills. I have also put Timekeeping skills.
