Writing is an essential aspect of the educational process, as well as everyday life. In the info-graphic, below, you will be able to find some methods on how to effectively implement writing in your classroom, concepts related to teaching writing, ways to assess your students writing abilities, ways to develop and demonstrate your own writing, and the expected writing development of young children. The aspects of this info-graphic that are most important to me and my thinking are categorized under the "methods for teaching writing" and "teacher as writer" categories.
First, under "methods for teaching writing," I believe mini-lessons that incorporate the use of mentor texts, writing notebooks, and talk, to be highly effective in student obtainment and remembrance of information. Using mentor texts, writing notebooks, and talk in your mini-lessons will provide the students with ample opportunity to develop their knowledge of language, and sentence structure and fluency.
Under the "teacher as writer" category, you will see a subtopics listed as "model your own work, and allow for your students to see your mistakes," and "have reflective interactions with your own work." These two concepts allow for your students to witness, firsthand, the difficulties the writing process can present, as well as the satisfaction that you have when a final product is created.
