TOPIC: Fractions

GRADE: 5° - 6°

Every time we are going to teach something, it is important to activate previous knowledge, which is, getting to know what the students know about the topic. After making a short activity that help us to recognize their kind of understanding, the early math introduction and the developmental progression tell us that it is necessary to design classes in order to “organize” knowledge by steps. In this case, we are going to use the PPP method (Presentation, Practice, and Production) to learn, reinforce and solve real life situations related to the topic. The resources to be used are printed and digital.

Presentation

Students will watch a video about fractions. They will explain in their own words what a fraction is and after that, they are going to find something in the classroom in order to proof their fractions theories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT1WuyxTCmo

Practice

Games are a really interesting tool for teaching/learning. Once they proved their theories about fractions they will be competing against the computer in order to develop their math skills and reinforce their knowledge on the topic. https://www.mathplayground.com/Triplets/index.html

Production

Once they have finished their competition with the online game, they will be solving some simple exercises in a worksheet that will look like this:

Mathematics is a process where the student learns little by little according to the level of complexity with which he / she is progressing, the students need all the knowledge, knowledge and skills to learn and learn the next subject, for example, to know how to multiply numbers by one and two figures, must know add up by several figures and subtract very well, besides that, be very clear about the process of multiplication tables, in this case for the process of division of numbers, by one, two, three and more figures it is important that the student is clear about the processes of mathematical operations such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication, clearly. We will make through the presentation, practice and production method, the learning process of this important mathematical operation. We will make the explanation through the game taking as examples simple cases like: if Andres and Juan have twelve cars, how many corresponds to each one so that the equitable ones.
Presentation.

The students will see a video about the terms of the division, they will understand the example that specifies, how this important process is carried out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjqxhtjyfC4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT0HFbA1Mow

https://www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/division.html

Practice

A famous phrase says that: learning becomes easier in children, playing. In this activity the children will do exercises to start the learning of the important mathematical operation: the division.

https://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/popup/popup_division.htm

https://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/menus/division.htm

Production

After the students explore and do the exercises online, they will do an exercise in physical medium, as shown below.
