         <description><![CDATA[<p>The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were significant because they ultimately led to Japan's surrender and the end of World War 2 II. Over 110,000 people were killed in the bombings and even more succumbed to the effects of the bombs afterwards. This showed how destructive nuclear weapons can be and contributed to the Cold War.</p>]]></description>
