Robespierre was an extreme radical leftist. During this time he thought and made many other people think that the only way to keep control of the revolution was to kill anyone who went against the ideas that Robespierre had. As the French Revolution dragged on and became more invasive, Robespierre was becoming more powerful. He was now put in charge of an emergency government called the Committee of Public safety. This committee threw the DOROMAC right out the window and started killing more than 25,000 people based on their political views.
https://i2.wp.com/world4.eu/wpcontent/uploads/2014/09/french_revolution_reign_of_terror.jpg

Robespierre was denied any help during his trial and was condemned to death because he was found guilty. This to a lot of people marked the end of the French Revolution. During the final stage, a new government called The Directory took control of France.
