The Aberfan colliery slip was a shocking disaster that occurred in Wales in 1966. The village of Aberfan was built around a coal mine and was surrounded by seven large spoil piles. However, heavy rainfall caused the seventh pile to subside, resulting in a massive avalanche of debris that destroyed a primary school, damaged a nearby high school, and destroyed 18 houses. Tragically, 144 people lost their lives, including 116 children. The report is about a tornado located in Mississippi. It was devastating, because at least 26 people passed away and many more were injured.
There was economic damage, a lot of destroyed cars, buildings and nature. Emergency occured due to the storm and families' homes were torn apart. Few survived and helped each other. Tornado was powerful and its wind gusts were around 200mph. The white house offered temporary housing, repairs and financial aid. The article is about one of the largest oil spills in the history. The incident happened in Deepwater Horizon which is a floating platform that was drulling an exploratory oil weel around 18,300 feet below see level. Oil spilll hapenned on 20th april 2010 when methane gas from the underwater expanded rose into drilling rig where it ignited and exploded. The explosion killed 11 workers and 94 were evacuated. Two days later ring sunk.
They tried to stop it but still 210 million gallons of oil were leaked from the underwater well. The oil spill was felt on a global scale and it killed many animals.

Bhopal disaster
In 1984 there was a gas leak at a pesticide plant in India. It was caused by malfunctioning safety systems, 40 tons of chemical leaked into the atmosphere. More than 600 000 people were exposed to the deadly cloud. Thousend of people are still affected today (eye lung and psyhological damage)

But 24 years later another one appeared which was even deadlier. After the 2011 earthquake the turkish president Erdogan blamed the constructors and supervisors for such a hugh death toll. Currently there are nearly 30,000 people dead and around a million homeless people. On paper Turkish building safety standards are among the best in the world and are regularly updated but Turkish geologists warned for years the building are a "rubble in waiting" because the building codes haven't been followed. Violations weren't sufficiently penalised and mostly ignored. The country has raised around 3billion dollars to help rebuilding the buildings in the 10 affected provinces. Turkeys vice president also said they have arrested around 113 people suspected to be at fault for the unfair constructions and many more are expected to be arrested.  The professionals say most of the deaths were caused by human failure.

The roof was blown off and the radioactive material from reactor was relased into the atmosphere.Around 30 people passed away quickly from acute radioation exposure. Following this, the government established a 30km “exclusion zone”.The effects of radiation are showing in many diseases like cancer and it’s estimated that clean-up efforts will continue until 2065.


MONTANA ASBESTOS CLOUDS
Vermiculite is mineral with a lot ofuses and the mine in Libby, Montana, was producing 80% of the world supply by 1963. Some kinds of vermiculite like the one in libby contain asbestos, that can cause a huge range of lung issues. but the mining company didn’t tell people that information and they used it for building,etc. As a result nearly 10% of town’s population died from asbestos-related illnesses.The closed ,but it was too late. Long-term effects of these poisonous substances were still seen in 2018
