This is a cute, light-hearted story about a found family and accepting someone just the way they are. Esther is adopted by her dads, and is supposed to be a "miniature pig." However, as time passes, Esther keeps growing and growing and growing. There is a reoccurring line in this book: "she looked up with those eyes and that smile...and it was LOVE." This line encompasses the true theme of the story, which is to love the people in your life no matter their flaws/mistakes.

I think this book would would very well with B-K children. It teaches patience, love, and acceptance.

I picked this book off the shelf because I thought it would be a nice seasonal story. The illustrations are so sweet, and the story is a sentiment of the power of imagination. This story would definitely work well for B-K students around Christmas time or in the winter.

This is a beautifully illustrated book about a young girl who is so proud of her hair. She wakes up on a very special day and wanted her hair to be PERFECT. When she can't quite get the style right, her dad comes to help. After much trial and error, they succeed just in time for the big surprise!

I love how this book highlights the black experience, especially the experience of black women and girls. This book also shows the journey of a father trying to learn how to style and maintain his daughter's hair.

This book would be great in a children's library. If the library's organization is by genre, I would place this in an "Identity" section.

This is such a CUTE book! I picked it up thinking it would be any other generic children's book, but the illustrations and story line are awesome. All of Duncan's crayons have quit their "jobs" and left him letters explaining each individual reason. At the end, Duncan takes all of the crayons' complaints into consideration, and gives them the picture they have been wanting!

I would definitely include this in the children's section of my library. K-2 students would really enjoy this story, as it has eye-catching illustrations and a spunky/humorous story line!

We've all heard the classic "Why was 6 afraid of 7?" dad joke, but Lazar turned that laugh into an illustrated children's novel! I was looking for a good laugh when I picked this book up, and I definitely got it. I love how "I" was placed in the role of detective to investigate 7's whereabouts and track him down.

If any of my future patrons are like me, numbers are NOT their favorite. Maybe a funny story like this will make them think more fondly of numbers. This story will give K-2 students a high laugh. I would definitely include this is the children's section of my library.

I picked this book up because I am a huge fan of B.J. Novak. Naturally, I figured there would be some comedy involved. I love the sentiment that a book does not have to have pictures to be interesting, funny, or likable. I love how Novak sneaks in a few positive and affirming statements like "the kid I'm reading this book to is the best kid ever!"

I would definitely include this book in my children's library. I think it is a wonderful transition book for students who are being exposed to books with more words and less illustrations.

It was not my favorite book from this assignment, but I probably would keep it in my library.
