London-based creative agency DBLG shows the way with "Bears on Stairs," a short clip that combines a 3-D printed hero with traditional stop-motion animation to charming effect. The ursine epic has a 2-second run time and took four weeks to complete, making it about as efficient as your average Michael Bay production, by my rough calculations. The lumbering action took 50 printed models in all.

For my model I would 3D print each frame and create a looping stop motion, that reflected my theme of form forever changing.

"Hideaway Type 2" by Dune and Raby, encouraged me to take a more minimalistic approach to the project, as they had simply outlined the curved form of the woman in the painting with cube mesh. Dune and Raby have then created an entirely new geometric woman. I would then go on to explore geometric shapes and how they can create light reflections.

"In the field of design, users and consumers are usually characterised in narrow and stereotypical ways resulting in a world of manufactured objects that reflects an impoverished view of what it means to be human. This project set out to explore and develop a design approach that would lead to products that embodied an understanding of the consumer/user as a complex existential being.

To achieve this the project focused on irrational but real anxieties such as the fear of alien abduction or nuclear annihilation. Rather than ignoring them, as most design does, or amplifying them to create paranoia, we treated the phobias as though they were perfectly reasonable and designed objects to humour their owners.

The resulting objects are concrete examples of a very different way of designing for how people really are rather than how they are supposed to be. They explore how psychological realism can be applied to designed objects.

http://dunneandraby.co.uk/content/projects/71/0

The "every Mickey" by Mathew Fernandez inspired me to consider using a 3D printer in my design process. I loved how each frame combined created an entirely new and unique Mickey Mouse.

"Using a 3D file search engine, I searched for every Mickey Mouse. From rather convincing Mickeys to more amateur interpretations, these all clearly breached Disney's infamous mouse copyright. Making a compilation of these circumvents copyright (under US copyright law, a compilation of existing material constitutes a new work of authorship). Further to this, it could be argued that amalgamating all the files into one monstrous multiplicity, disfigures the figure beyond the protected threshold."

https://www.plummerfernandez.com/works/every-mickey/
