I find emails can sometimes trigger an academic into emailing you about another, unrelated issue (it reminds them that we are here!) but quite often I suspect emails we send are fled away to "read later" and then that time never comes...

I think FAQs are a very efficient way of connecting staff and students to answers they need, but I don't think they are used by everyone and we need to promote these a lot more.

Welcome emails set us of on the right foot, and these are crucial-I know not all staff follow up to make a meeting, but its good PR.

The most effective way to get messages across is to attend school events, especially committee meetings. Any misconceptions or issues can often be ironed out there and then and things formally minuted.

Emails - usually prompt some engagement from staff (even if not about the issue we contacted them about). Expected method of communication and we know staff should be looking at their emails regularly so I still think this a valuable comms method.
Annual reports - I like these, especially now they are more succinct. I know we do put them on the staff website as well as emailing them around but I am not sure academics follow the links to the website or open the attachments. Could we have the key points/summary as an infographic/graphic for them to click on or read within the main body of the email? Video overview? Rather than relying on them clicking on something else?
A lot of staff do not know what we mean when we say TeachLearn - I know that's not our fault but maybe it's becoming a bit of a dumping ground for documents/guidance? Can we gets stats on our pages on TeachLearn?
New staff induction emails - useful
Attending events/meetings/forums is really valuable when we get invited. Submitting papers or asking for feedback/comments/questions via email is a good back up.

I think we are trying a lot of different methods, I don't necessarily think we need to change them. Just try different ways of presenting content? Some of our emails/newsletters are quite long. We could try wording subjects or opening sentences differently so it stands out.
The ability to go and see academics in-person (which used to be quite successful) is limited now, even via MS Teams. Not sure if there are any fora we could "see" academics in a more informal way.
Ask the Academic Services Managers in the Schools what works best? Ask the academics what they prefer?
