In normal situations, during swallowin of food, flap-like valves close the passage of the windpipe and does not allow the food to enter it. Thus, the food particles are guided into the food pipe.<br><br></div>]]></description>

This happens when the food particles enter the windpipe instead of the food pipe.(Wind pipe is a structure which carries air drom the nose to the lungs and it runs along the food pipe.)<br>Hiccups are also sudden , involuntary contractions of the diaphragm muscle. As the muscle contracts repeatedly, the opening between the vocal cords snaps shut to check the inflow of air and makes the hiccup sound. Irritation of the nerves that extend from the neck to the chest can cause hiccups.<br><br></div>]]></description>
