The lens of appearances can be applied to Freak the Mighty because the two main characters look very different and people judge them based on how they look. One issue I noticed is that Max seems a little afraid of Freak because he looked fierce and he hit people with his crutches. In the text it states, "So maybe he wasn't really all that fierce in day care, except I'm pretty sure he did hit a kid with his crutch once, whacked the little brat pretty good. And for some reason little Kicker never got around to kicking little Freak."

The lens of Characters' expression or appearances can be applied to Freak the Mighty because everyone is always scared of how big Max is compared to other people.

The reason why the character Gwen is scared of Max is because he is really big compared to other people, and she was showing her fear very clearly.
In the passage it states, "Freak is in the wagon and he's trying to look back at me, trying to shrug his shoulder and let me know he doesn't understand what got into the Fair Gwen, but I know/ It's pretty simple, really. She's scared of me."

One thing I noticed is that Gram is concerned about what Max can do when they are sleeping just like his father. In the passage it states, "Grim never says my father's name, just him, like his name is too scary to say. It's more than just the way Maxwell resembles him, Grim says that night in the kitchen, the boy is like him."

One thing I noticed is the room seems bad but he still likes it.

In the passage it states, "I"m still living in the basement, my own private down under. In the room Grim built for me there. Glued up this paneling, right? it sort of buckles away from the concrete cellar walls, a regular ripple effect, but do I complain about the crummy paneling, or the rug that smells like low tide?."

The lens of what Grim and Gram think and do they are hiding things away from Max because they know that he is dangerous from anyone. In the passage it states " Hide the evidence. Dont want to give the dangerous boy any ideas." Grim and Gram both think that Max is going to do something dangerous so they are keeping him unde robservation. One thing I noticed is that Max is also agreeing with them he also calls himself dangerous and he doesnt want himself near anyone so he stays in his room in the basement.
