I then created a competitive shop brief which compares the three shops I visited on different matters such a promotional events, sustainability and online presence. Once I finished I used 'Edited' to create an online competitive shop showing trend/ forecasting and retail data.  I struggled as my brands don't have the data or numbers I need. So I had to look at other resources. 

The Next day we looked into different roles in the retail industry and what qualifications and skills each job need to do well in the industry. From there I create a personal professional portfolio and added my knowledge to my Wix profile. To which I added a infographic career path of how to achieve the role in the industry. 

In class we also looked at the buying cycle and brand position. I created a map of where my brand is in comparison to competition in terms of quality and price. I was already aware of Victoria Secret losing profits and the fall in sales from fashion news outlets. This was when I decided to use Victoria Secret as my brand, I first began by researching and reading articles who highlighted the issues with the brand. Many issues came to light such as lack of body awareness and sizing in models, lack of education towards LGBTQ+ and missing opportunities to help women who have gone through struggles. 

After researching I decided visiting a flag ship store like Bond Street, I could create my own views on the issues and get a better understanding of the brand. Whilst I was there it was clear that they don't have larger sized mannequins or models promoting underwear. They had a wall in store with frames of models some were interactive and moved but in all the pictures a skinny female model showed off the garments. It was clear that they weren't open to LGBTQ+ as I researched a bit more and realise it was only last year they included a transgender woman in their runway show. But even after that huge step unlike other models there was no photographic evidence highlighting that big step for the company.  I also found that with the current pandemic they weren't doing much to prevent spending and keeping the consumer safe. They did have floor stickers and hand sanitiser but there was no employees enforcing the 2 metre rule. 

Whilst I was visiting Victoria Secret I also visited two other competitors 'Ann Summers and Intimissimi'. My aim was to see how competitors are dealing with the pandemic and how they are setting themselves apart from the everyone else. I read through the brief by myself and then re-read the brief with the class to gather a better understanding of what I needed to produce for this project. Whilst getting a better understanding of the brief I made a basic checklist for the visual merchandising booklet and the business plan. For the majority of the day it was about clearing out the necessities of the project and researching our giving brand. My brand is Wolf and Badger. 

The next day on the 26th of January I had to consider what and why a pop up would be useful for the brand. I decided that a the ai for the pop up was to drive brand awareness, entice a younger target market, promote sustainability and ethics. To gain a knowledge about pop up and there effectiveness we looked at examples of pop ups as a classroom task and negotiated how they used decoration, layouts and promotion to have a good event. I then had a look at WGSN to collect images and whilst looking at article of predicted trends and other keys things to include in a pop up. To which I made a style board with a selection of images. After that as a task I had to consider some key aspects for a retail space such as lighting, promotion, materials and logo placement. This is when I decided my space must have natural and artificial lighting. As I had previously never really heard of Wolf & Badger I researched the unique selling point and 4p's. Through doing this I realised that the brand works alongside smaller brands and promote a positive outlook on saving the planet. I then had to think about different types of primary and secondary research I could do with the current lockdown situation. I decided that I would interview two people of different age ranges and spending habits to see how much they knew about Wolf & Badger and how they would feel about the brand after they were educated about them. I then had to think about making a six piece capsule collection, to do this I looked on WGSN and collected CAD designs. I then downloaded Remote Desktop which I used to create a product board on Adobe Photoshop. I also had to come up with my pop up concept so made a mood board and concept board on Photoshop.  I also created a consumer profile for my pop up which I used the Acorn website for to put my target market into a classification.

On the 2nd we were learning about using Adobe Indesign on Remote Desktop. I felt comfortable working on the software as I had previously worked on the software. I set up my Visual Merchandising layout and booklet and added the front and back cover of the VM booklet to the template. In the afternoon we had a virtual meeting with Christine. C who has worked in the industry and listening to some key aspects that would benefit us. On the 16th I spent the entire day learning and producing a floor plan. I firstly researched a few different website that would allow me to create a floor plan, I had to estimate scale and shape as I could not get a floor plan for my location. I decided that the ground floor of my exhibition would be set out in a exhibition layout, whilst downstairs will be for storage, changing rooms and the staff room. However, I did find that some of the sources like filler words was wrong as they were highlighting the beginning of words like some and saying I keep saying so. My pitch has to use finical terminology so I was learning about KPI (key performance indicators) learning what different variables of a successful pop up would cost. We then walked a video on how to use Microsoft Excel and made a spreadsheet to calculate the cost of my pop up and whether or not I would gain profit. I was working out the pay of my employees, the cost of rent for 6 weeks, along with the cost of Human Resources and physical resources.

On the 23rd the majority of my day I spent completing tasks. I was falling behind with the production of my VM guideline so I had a look at completing at least half the guideline. I then completed my planogram on Adobe Photoshop. And began to focus on my digital look book. My digital look book works by customers sending a photo of them styling the Wolf & Badger products via the in-store QR code and some of the photos are then display in store on the digital totem.
In the afternoon I took a Mock 2.0 assessment interview where I answered questions about my character and my experience in the industry for a mock job.

Monday afternoon I focused on creating my window display, I first sketched out my design and then created a digital copy that was added into my VM guideline. On Monday I also made another checklist to make sure I was up to date on task and I was meeting the deadline. 

On the 2nd the majority of the morning was spent completing personal task for my project and 1-1 with Liz to talk about the progression of the project. I also focused on completing and ticking tasks off my checklist. In the afternoon we were joined by the career advisers were we participated in a group challenge a professional skill task and a aptitude test.
