Palacio the main character Auggie. At the begging Auggie can be described as self conscious. Auggie says " Why do I have to be so ugly Mommy?" ( Palacio 60) Auggie hates the way he looks because of his face. For this reason he is upset. Because of his face he does not want to go anywhere because people will see him. At the end of the story he can be described as popular. Auggie also says " These big dudes were knuckle punching me" ( Palacio 282)He becomes popular because at first no one would talk to him but now a lot of people like him. Now they know that he is not different from them. Therefore Auggie changed from being self conscious to popular. Another character in Wonder is Summer. Summer can be described as accepting . Summer stated " Who knew that sitting with Auggie at lunch can be such a big deal" (Palacio 119) She chose to do the right thing over the popular. She did not care about Auggies face. Another trait for Summer is unique. Summer says " Hey is this sea t taken" ( Palacio 51) This shows how summer is unqie because she stands out and does what people do not do. Palacio the main characters are Auggie , Jack , Summer, Auggies parents and Mr. Tushman. the story takes place at Becher Prep and at Auggies house. The main character Auggie faces an initial conflict the conflict is Auggie does not want to go to school because of his facial deformity. Later on Jack talks behind Auggies back. Then Julian calls Auggie a freak and Jack punches Julian in the face. This caused Julian to not go on the nature retreat. Then a big turn happens. Auggie gets confronted by 7th graders but Auggie is not alone. His friends Jack, Henry, Miles and Amos helped fight off the 7th graders. At the end, Auggies more accepted by others, and Julian gets expelled. Finally, Auggie gets an award and people cheer for him.
