I have so far only refined the geometry of the audience seating and added minor details. I think everything for the outline sketch is there. The next step for me is to use colored pencil or marker.

I don't have a new sketch today, but I plan on working on and finishing it over Thanksgiving break. I intend to draw a police station with an officer at his computer, while also showing the original person sitting sulkily in the cell. Likely in charcoal, as suggested.

Today I researched different dimensions and type of linoleum. I also looked at examples and considered the risks. For price plus quality, I am leaning toward Battle Ship Grey linoleum. If it weren't for the price I would have been more inclined to use Speedball Speedy Carve Block.

I am fairly certain at this point that my plan is to use Battleship grey Linoleum of 7x8 inches. I plan do use some digital software to make the outline, then I plan on printing it and tracing it onto the linoleum to be cut out. I plan on starting the work on the digital outline on Sunday.

After talking brainstorming and bouncing my ideas off of ChatGPT, I came up with the idea that my final piece should be: The person is back in their room they started in, doing essentially the same vague internet crime they were doing in the first place because their strong internet addiction, not having learned in the penalty based prison system. Essentially getting ready to reoffend, but additionally, their living and mental state has further decayed from the prison time. I don't know what medium to use yet.

I know I am going to use a wood medium, most likely an inverse relief on a wood canvas. But I was also looking at Marquetry with layering wood pieces. The picture included is one of the two old German Marquetry pieces hung at my grandparents home.

I have the veneer material ordered, I went with a non-color-dyed pack for more natural looking shades of wood veneers. I am trying to think of the base, I heard hardwood would be the best, but I am trying to only get the base as a local material to not annoy my dad as much. Maybe Lowes has some hardwood that is of reasonable dimensions. But ideal would be 8 inches by 10 inches with about 1 centimeter thickness.

The veneer has arrived, but I still need to get access to the cutting materials by some means. They are currently locked up and we are waiting for access. Additionally, I am waiting on the backing board. In the meantime I will review techniques and examples of marquetry.

By next glass I should have the backing, whether it be hardwood or some other type of sturdy material reasonable for this application. I will start outlining and sketching ideas for this project regardless of whether the teacher gets access to the art supplies. However, I will need those art supplies to proceed because the alternative of getting my own and bringing them to school is impractical due to the scanners that would be set off by cutting supplies.

I have all of the materials in class now. It is Tuesday, it looks like I am going to have to get the cutting tools from home into school, so I contacted an administrator about how I should do that.

It looks like I can make my sketches on paper, then use tracing paper over them, and put transfer paper on top of the veneer and on top of that the traced paper sketch, then I can transfer the sketch onto the wood. Maybe I could cut out a middle man somewhere, if I get rid of the tracing paper.
