  • Location: UA&P Cas Garden
  • Description:  It is the space between the Administrative and Library Building (ALB), College of Arts and Sciences Building (CAS), and the APEC Communications Building (ACB) 
  • Size and Details:  The space is very wide wide with the focal point being its center that is covered by the shade given by three trees. It has an irregular shape since it maximizes the negative space not occupied by the buildings that surround it. 
  • General Function and Design:
    It is designed to be an open space to be used as a free space for everyone. Since UA&P consists with a lot of students, faculties and workers; the UA&P CAS Garden is a venue where people get to hang out and converse with lots of people.

    1. It’s very nice. I like how they put the chairs in the garden for the students to sit in and relax whenever they want to

    1. I think its very calm and serene, it’s very nice to go to whenever you just want to relax, or whenever you want to talk to your friends, or even when you go mentoring with your mentors, a very nice spot
  3. Do you think it is utilized for its use?
    1. Yes, I think it is utilized for its use, like I mentioned earlier I like how they put the chairs so all the more the students can utilize the space
  4. What do you feel when you’re in this space?
    1. I feel very calm, it makes me feel relaxed
  5. Do you think it is designed beautifully?
    1. Yes, I think it is designed beautifully, I like how they place trees also and plants everywhere to add to the serene feeling
  6. How do you feel about the size of the garden, do you think it maximised the space?
    1. Yes, I think the space is enough like it is not too spacious that it feels empty but it isn’t also too small where everyone feels cramped whenever they sit down or go to the garden, so it is just enough.

However, the garden is crowded always according to Jearrome. Thus, he feels like he’s in not in a garden at all but he is in a city because it lacks plants and trees. In relation to this, Matthew thinks that the building surrounding the garden makes the space of it small, so this explains how it lacks on being a garden. However, Samantha sees the garden as beautiful and serene. It is as well relaxing given the fact that it is surrounded with buildings.   1. Well, it’s not actually a garden because there’s not that many plants, there’s a few trees but it’s mostly chairs and concrete.

  1. Well, the uap garden is nice and it’s really crowded all the time. 

3. Do you think it is utilized for its use
  1. Yeah, I think so because people value the uap garden and people like to talk there and that’s where they usually eat. So, I think it’s utilized pretty well. 

4. What do you feel when you’re in this space
  1. I feel like I’m in the city, because it’s not really a garden, it’s not full of trees or something like a forest. It’s actually like New York City Concrete Jungle.

5. Do you think it is designed beautifully 

  1. No, it’s not, because it’s so dulled it lacks so much stuff. It lacks plants, trees and yeah it really lacks so many things

6. How do you feel about the size of the garden, do you think it maximized the space?
  1. Yeah, I think it maximized its space, because you can stay at any part of the garden like if you want to stay at the left side or the right side and yeah.

It’s beautiful, it’s physically appealing, as I mentioned before, the abundance of the color green calms the eyes, which helps me concentrate and rest after a class because I might have a lot of readings, a lot of PowerPoints where I have to pay attention and read and overall, it’s calming and appealing. 

2. What do you think about the uap garden

  1. Cozy naman, parang maganda siyang tignan. It’s a place where I can chill, like with the amount of color green, it calms the eyes.

3. Do you think it is utilized for its use
  1. Mostly the garden is a reading place for students and also the faculty, which I believe also serves its purpose as well. But if you mean the garden as a place of appreciation, maybe its overlooked by being just a big place.

5. Do you think it is designed beautifully 
  1. Of course, it’s beautiful because some students have observed it’s actually pretty organized, the way the chairs are organized, the way the trees are positioned and also of course the organization of colors as well.

6. How do you feel about the size of the garden, do you think it maximized the space?
  1. It’s too small especially with the buildings. For me, the buildings overpower the garden which minimizes its purpose and its beauty.
