· The most exciting stories have an unexpected ending.

 

· It’s disappointing when you can guess the ending of a story. The there’s no reason to continue reading.

 

· Sometimes the best stories are the old ones – even when you know exactly what’s going to happen.

 

· I like chapters that end in the middle of something so you always want to keep reading.

 

· I find it annoying when a writer doesn’t tell you what happens to the characters. It’s better to know for sure what happened.

· The main character and his/her friends work together to stop something evil.

=> ‘By the time the young prince finally found the book of magic, the spell had already started.’

 

· Something very scary happens and, at the end, only one person is left alive.

=> ‘As soon as he had entered the dark room, he heard a terrible scream.’

 

· The main character finds out some secret information and then stops something bad from happening.
=> ‘Agent 28 had just finished when she noticed something strange.’

 

· There’s period when you think the two people won’t get together, but in the end they fall in love.

=> ‘He had already started to ask her « the big question » when she stopped him.’
