The examples provided were Facebook, Google, Apple, and Amazon, which could prove true in some ways, though there are other websites that have a strong hold against them. Examples could include Twitter, Bing, Samsung, and recently, wish. Though there are a could points brought up, I don't agree with the article, as it was clearly bias against technology. After all, it is always hard to adapt, and those who are unable to adapt, point out all flaws, and offer anger instead. I work with technology on a daily basis. I see the good and bad. There is way more good than there is bad, but people only tend to see the bad things in certain aspects anyways. Social Media is an amazing tool that can get news articles out on a moments notice. It all depends on the kid's responsibility level to see how they can use it for good. I sat in on a presentation about cell phones and the average amount of time that we check our phones is every 7 minutes. Technology although very useful has places where people can harm other people with words on a computer. There are even younger aged kids in this frenzy of social media 8th graders who can now be easily targeted because they are opened to a much bigger world. Technology is good but it can become evil in someone's hands.

Social media promises an end to loneliness but actually produces an increase in solitude and an intense awareness of social exclusion. Texting and other technologies give you more control over your social interactions but also lead to thinner interactions and less real engagement with the world.

I found this to be the most true. People go on social edia look for friendship and companionship and really don't connect with anyone

I completely agree that being engaged more than 10 hours a week with social media and such would make a person more unhappy. I remember when we had no technology at my house besides a tv and how happy I was to go outside to play, spend time with my friends, and being creative with my own talents. Starting the use of social media made me care more about what people thought, almost anxious in a way, and I noticed my happiness would go down the more I used an exceeded amount of technology. I highly recommend this article to others to read because It's very informative.
