My top 2 of my favorite vacations ever are either when I took a road trip to either Niagara falls or to Florida. Whether one or the other is better is up to me, but the reason I liked these so much was because of the beautiful scenery and landscapes I saw during the trip. During both of them, I got to see, and stop along the way, many mountain ranges including the Catskills, Smoky, and Appalachian mountain ranges. I think that I liked these areas so much because living in the suburbs of Illinois, everything is mostly plains, so when I get to see different landscapes I enjoy them more. I also visited their national parks along the way so I got to walk around the area and explore the forests too. I think that I associated this with my occipital lobe because I liked the scenery so much.

One of the biggest factors that affected my personality is my school experience and I think that's a good thing. Mainly because I've always taken harder classes, in this school year I'm currently taking English Honors and Calculus BC, it has helped me develop skills that would be helpful later in life like studying and asking questions. Another thing that I have learned about myself is that I am probably a big procrastinator, which I attribute to my underdeveloped frontal lobe, so occasionally I put things off for later. I related this to my frontal lobe because although I've developed some skills which are good for my personality, there are some things that I do that aren't the best during the decision making process.

One of the best experiences I've had in my middle school years was when I was apart of my school play. Before I joined SCN, at my old school I participated in an adaptation of Mary Poppins. Although I didn't want to do it at first, in the end, I liked it. I also got to experience the other aspects of it like tech crew and backstage stuff. In my actual part, I had to memorize many lines and songs over a couple of weeks. In the end, I memorized all of them and had a lot of fun during the 2 nights we performed. My hippocampus helped me to do this when I memorized my lines and songs over the couple of weeks I prepared.

I don't have many fears, but I hate haunted houses. Even though I know what is coming and know that it is not real, no amount of mental preparation could make me enjoy, or dislike them any less. Maybe it is a combination of the darkness and jump scares but I don't understand why I am afraid of them. Even when I went to six-flags during Halloween time, I still didn't like it even though I didn't go to the haunted house. I understand the appeal, but I myself can't get behind it, although I am trying to like it more. The same goes with horror movies. I don't think its the actual scary parts but the actual preparing myself for the scary sections. This is because my amygdala controls emotions like fear and if I did not have this brain part then I would not be afraid of these things.

Before the pandemic, I used to play at a lot of piano recitals every year. This is because piano was one of my hobbies, and my piano teacher held recitals every so often. Because piano is a pretty technical instrument, which requires technique including posture, hand position, and how much pressure you use for each key, playing it requires concentration and alertness. My reticular formation helps me do this by keeping my composure during stressful performances. It also helps me when I practice so I can develop new skills. Even with other things I like to do such as chess, my reticular formation helps me concentrate on my next move.

Before the pandemic happened, my family and I would often go to Broadway shows in Chicago during school breaks. Typically I didn't really like going to those because I thought that they were boring, but looking back on it now, both with the mix of visuals, music, and singing I realized how much I actually enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I generally listen to mainstream music and classical music, I didn't really appreciate the style that was specific to these types of productions. My favorite show that I saw was 4 years ago and it was Phantom of the Opera. Although it was a long time ago, as I look back it was one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, and I think I like it so much because of the way the musical scores integrated with the theme of the production. This reminded me of my temporal lobe because of the musical connection to my hearing.

I think that it is one of the things that I could not live without doing. Not only do I enjoy talking, but I also enjoy listening to others talking and hearing what they have to say. Even when everyone is silent, I find a way to start a new conversation, even about random stuff I'm thinking about. I think that I like talking and listening to people so much because I am genuinely interested in what other people have to say and just feel like doing it. There's really no other reason than that. Without my Wernicke's area, I wouldn't be able to understand what other people say to me and I don't think that would that fun.

My favorite thing to do outside is swim and bike. My favorite trail is nearby my house and has a super long bike path into the preserve. Generally, its too cold in the winter for me to do these things, so these activities are reserved for spring, summer, and fall. Especially in warmer temperatures, these sports can make you really thirsty and hungry because of all of the calories you burn and sweat. This happens, even more, when I'm outside for a couple of hours. My hypothalamus allows me to know when I'm thirsty and hungry so I don't get dehydrated. In addition to this, it also controls my core temperature and maintains my body's homeostasis so I don't get hyperthermia outside.

Most of my cousins live in different states so over the summer I get to see them most. When I'm with the we play lots of games and watch movies (basically stuff you do with your family/cousins). Many of the games we play are ones like jenga and uno, among others. We also usually go out sometimes to places and play laser tag and paintball. We usually play more competitive games because we find them more fun than games where you sit around. I find that sometimes these games require strategy and attention due to their competitive nature. Not only this but because many of the games are active, they get your heart rate going. I almost forgot to metnion it, but I also really liked when we went to escape rooms too. I think this perfectly embodies the functions of norepinephrine because during the times we are out norepinephrine helps with the alertness and concentration aspects of these games.

Until recently, about a year ago, I didn't have any pets. I have always wanted one but never got one because sometimes nobody was home to take care of them. Because of the pandemic and virtual learning, my sister thought it would be the perfect time to get a dog because it would be easier to integrate having a pet into our lives. Initially, I was a little opposed to getting a dog because of all of the things I would have to do to take care of her, but now I love her so much. Not only is she super warm and cute, but also loving to all people and is nice to see after a long day at school. I relate my golden retriever dog with the neurotransmitter/hormone serotonin because she makes me happy and serotonin controls mood.
