Babil kralı eşinin sıla hasreti çekmesinden dolayı yaptırdığı Babil’in Asma Bahçeleri, M.Ö 605 yılında inşa edilmiştir. 43 sene Babil krallığı yapmış olan Nebukadnezar tarafından eşini neşelendirme amacı ile yapılmış eser, günümüze bazı nedenler ( doğal afet, yangın vs. ) ile gelmeyi başaramamıştır.

İskenderiye Feneri, Mısır ülkesinin İskenderiye şehrinde inşa edilmiştir. İskenderiye Feneri, tarihte yapılmış en büyük ve en yüksek fenerdir. Fener bu özellikleriyle dünyanın yedi harikasından biri olmaya hak kazanmıştır.

Antik çağın dünya harikalarının arasında günlük hayatta kullanılma imkanı olan tek eser İskenderiye Feneri olmuştur. Pharos adasına inşa edildiği için fener bir süre bu isimle de anılmıştır.

İspanyolca, Fransızca, İtalyanca gibi dillerde Pharos kelimesi aynı zamanda fener anlamına da gelir. Fenerin inşası milattan önce 285-246 yılları arasında sürmüştür. Devletin ilk kralları olan Ptolemy ve Soter tarafından İskenderiye Limanı karşısında bulunan Pharos adası üzerinde inşa edilmiştir. İskenderiye Feneri yaşanan doğal afetler nedeniyle korunamamış ve yavaş yavaş yıkılarak sular altında kalmıştır. Dünyanın yedi harikasından biri olduğu için bir örneği yapılarak, insanların bilgilenmesi amaçlanmıştır.

Dünyanın yedi harikasından biri olan İskenderiye Feneri, Mısır’ın İskenderiye şehrinde yer almaktadır. İskenderiye, Mısır’ın Akdeniz kıyılarında yer alan ikinci büyük şehirdir. Şehri, milattan önce 382 yılında Büyük İskender keşfetmiş ve kurmuştur. İskenderiye ismini de kurucusundan alır. İskenderiye Feneri dışında bir de büyük kütüphanesiyle bilinir. Günümüzde turizm açısından önemli bir şehirdir.

Fener 3 bölümden meydana gelir ve mimarı Knidos topraklarından Sostratus’tur. 135 metre yüksekliğe sahip fener, beyaz mermerden inşa edilmiştir. Fenerin tepesinde tunçtan yapılan büyükçe bir ayna vardır ve bu ayna 70 kilometre mesafe uzaklıktan bile görünebilme özelliğine sahiptir. Böylelikle limana giriş çıkış yapan gemilere de rehber olmuştur. Ayrıca en üst kısmında bir de denizler tanrısı Poseidon’un heykeli bulunur. Alt kısmı dikdörtgen şekildedir ve yalnızca alt kısmı 55 metre yüksekliktedir. Orta alan yukarı doğru çıkan silindir biçimindedir. Bu alanın yüksekliği ise 27 metre civarındadır. Fenerin alevi de bu kısımda bulunur. Ateşin elde edilebilmesi için yakılacak olan odunlar ve gerekli malzemeler, bu alana çok iyi tasarlanmış bir düzenek sayesinde rahatlıkla taşınabilmektedir. Orta alanın üstündeki üst bölüm de silindir biçimindedir ve bir odası vardır.

Fenerin silindir biçimindeki üst alanı milattan sonra 955 yılında yaşanan bir deprem ve ardından gelen fırtına ile kopmuştur. Gövde alanı ise 1302 yılında yine bir deprem sırasında yıkılmıştır. Fenerin kalan tüm kalıntıları ise 1500 yılında tamamen yok olmuştur. Yıkılma aşamasından önce çeşitli ressamlarca birçok resmi yapılmıştır. Yapılan bu resimler, sonraları inşa edilen deniz fenerlerine örnek oluşturacak türdedir.

Büyük İskender hayatını kaybettikten sonra Mısır toprakları el değiştirmiştir. Sonrasında ise bölge halkı Yunanlılar ile yapılan ticaretleri baya bir artırmışlardır. Bu sebeple büyükçe bir deniz fenerine ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Fenerin inşası Batlamyus zamanında başlamıştır. Büyük bir fener olmasından dolayı kendisinin döneminde bitirilememiş ve Batlamyus’un oğlunun egemenliği başladıktan sonra tamamlanabilmiştir.

Fener çeşitli doğal felaketlerle yıkıldıktan sonra 1408 yılında Memlük Sultanı Kayıtbay, fenerden eser kalmayan bu yere bir kale inşa ettirmiştir. Kalenin malzemeleri için ise fenerin yıkıntılarını kullanmayı uygun görmüştür. Günümüzde de şuanda İslami dönem eserlerinden sayılan kale, bu topraklar üzerinde yer almaktadır.

Fenerin olduğu bölgede uzun yıllardan beri dalgıçlar dalış yapmaktadır. Amatör olarak dalan dalgıçlar, yaptıkları dalışlarda 8 metre kadar derinlikle bazı kalıntılar görmüşlerdi ve buraya da kaya ormanı adını vermişlerdi. Suyun altında yüzlerce dev boyutlarda granit taşlar, sütun kalıntıları, heykel parçaları gibi kalıntılar bulunmuştur. Maalesef amatör dalgıçların gördüklerini yıllarca kimse ciddiye almadı. Son olarak 1962 yılında arkeologlarla beraber yapılan dalışlarda anlaşıldı ki suyun derinliklerinde büyük bir tarih yatıyordu. Bu büyük tarih kalıntılarının İskenderiye Feneri’ne ait olduğu ise kısa sürede anlaşıldı. Ancak tedbirler alınmazsa bu kalıntılar kuma gömülecekti. Önlem olarak ise Mısır hükümeti, bölgeye bir liman yaptırdı.

The upper part of the lighthouse in the form of a cylinder was cut off by an earthquake in 955 and then by a storm. The body area was demolished in 1302 during an earthquake. All the remaining remains of the lighthouse were completely destroyed in 1500. Several paintings were made by various painters before the collapse. These pictures are the examples of the lighthouse that was built later.

After Alexander the Great lost his life, Egypt changed hands. After that, the people of the region increased their trade with the Greeks. For this reason, a large lighthouse was needed. The construction of the lighthouse began in the time of Batlamyus. Since he was a great Lantern, he could not be completed in his time and after the beginning of the reign of the son of Batlamyus, he was able to be completed.

After the destruction of the lighthouse by various natural disasters in 1408, the Sultan of Mamluk Kaybay, built a castle in this place without any trace of the lighthouse. For the materials of the castle, it is suitable to use the ruins of the lighthouse. Today, the castle, which is considered as one of the works of the Islamic period, is located on these lands.

In the area where the lighthouse is, divers have been diving for many years. Amateur diving divers had seen some remains at depths of 8 meters in their dives, and here they called The Rock Forest. Under water, there were hundreds of large granite stones, column ruins, fragments of statues. Unfortunately, no one took what amateur divers saw seriously for years. Finally, in 1962, it was discovered that there was a great history in the depths of water. It was understood that these great historical remains belonged to the Lighthouse of Alexandria in a short time. However, if the measures were not taken, these remains would be buried in the sand. As a precaution, the Egyptian government has built a port in the region.

It was first built in around 800 BC and then destroyed in the 7^th century. Reconstruction of the temple started in 550 BC and the entire work took around 10 years. The second temple was four times larger than the first one. It is also known as the ‘Temple of Diana’.
ARTEMİS TAPINAĞI
Artemis Tapınağı  ay ve avın Olimpiyalı tanrısı Artemisi onurlandırmak üzere inşa edildi.Bu Tapınak eski dünyanın yedi harikasından biri olarak görülmektedir.Bugün Türkiye’de Selçuk yakınlarında olan Efes’te inşa edildi.Bu yapı Ayasuluk Tepesi’nin güneybatısındaki bataklıklar çevresinde yer edinmekteydi.

O ilk olarak M.Ö 800’lü yıllarda inşa edildi ve daha sonra 7.yy’da yıkıldı.Tapınağın yeniden inşası M.Ö550 yılında başladı ve bütün işin tamamlanması 10 yıl sürdü.İkinci tapınak ilkinden dört kat daha genişti.Bu yapı aynı zamanda ‘Diana Tapınağı ‘olarak da bilinmektedir.
