I think that the central idea of the unit is the role that religion plays in history. We talked about how the higher parts of society are only higher up because "God put them there". But then we talk about this like the black plague and how it affected everyone, including those who were "brought by god". I think the central idea that you wanted us to understand in this unit was the idea that life in the Middle Ages was very different from life in our modern age. I think you wanted to put us into the minds of these people to fully understand what they thought of the world around them and themselves as individuals. 

2. I think you wanted us to understand about this topic is that the world around us is filled with myths. The Catholic Church created myths that was the only institution in the world that could communicate with god. It was wrong and extremely corrupt. Martin Luther was another individual who could communicate with god and bring god closer to the German people as a whole. Many myths exist in our world today. We choose to believe them. For instance we choose to believe that the world was created by the Big Bang. This may not be true. We do not truly know.
