The sustainable tourism paradigm has emerged and continues to develop as a result of both internal and external developments in the tourism sector over the past half century. However, one of the main focus of this essay is to trace environmental , economical and sociocultural impact of the sustainable tourism model now dominant in this period, using the Jafari platform model as a framework and Theory of Change. On the other hand, the purpose of the essay is also to see to what extent the concept of “sustainable tourism development has been formally recognized by international and regional organizations, both outside and within the tourism sector”. Sustainable tourism has been variously defined as a tourism development process and / or as a result of tourism development. As there is no agreement on its definition and application, it has been suggested that "the definition of sustainable development in the context of tourism has become something of a craft in recent academic literature". This essay will critically discuss the future of tourism in terms of sustainable development.
