تنبثق الأهداف العامة للتربية الأسرية من الأهداف العامة لسياسة التعليم في المملكة العربية السعودية بحيث تتجاوب مع قدرات التلميذات وميولهن وحاجات البيئة وإمكانياتهن .
وفيما يلي أبرز الأهداف :
1- تعريف التلميذات بنعم الله الكثيرة وشكره عليها .
2- تعويد التلميذات احترام القيم الإسلامية والعادات العربية الأصيلة .
3- إبراز أهمية التربية الأسرية من خلال محتوى المادة والأنشطة والتطبيقات.
4- تعريف التلميذات بالأهداف النبيلة التي تسعى مادة التربية الأسرية إلى تحقيقها في المجتمع .
5- تزويد التلميذات بالمعارف والمهارات التي تمكنهن من التعامل مع معطيات التكنولوجيا الحديثة .
6- إكساب التلميذات مهارات عملية وتطبيقية ذات أبعاد اجتماعية واقتصادية نافعة .
7- مساعدة التلميذات على إدراك القواعد الصحية والغذائية وإتباعها لتحقيق نمو جسمي متوازن .
8- تنمية الإحساس بالمسؤولية لدى التلميذات تجاه الوطن والبيئة المحلية والمجتمع .
9- إتاحة الفرصة للتلميذات لممارسة مهارات مهنية تُمكنهن من استغلال الوقت في أعمال نافعة ، وممارسة هوايات مفيدة .
10- إكساب التلميذات الاتجاهات الإيجابية تجاه الجهود التي تبذلها الدولة لتوفير الخدمات الاجتماعية لجميع المواطنين .
11- إكساب التلميذات مهارات العمل الجماعي وتقديره .
12- توعية التلميذات بمتطلبات الحياة الأسرية السليمة وأبعادها الصحية .
13- تكوين الاتجاهات الإيجابية السليمة لدى التلميذات نحو العمل اليدوي واحترام العاملين وتقديرهم .
14- تدريب التلميذات على استخدام الأسلوب العلمي الصحيح في العديد من المواقف الحياتية التي تواجههن .
15- تعريف التلميذات بالتغيرات الجسمية التي تطرأ عليهن أثناء النمو .
16- تشجيع التلميذات على تقدير التعامل الصحيح مع الآخرين .
17- تعويد التلميذات على النظافة واحترامها في جميع مجالات الحياة .
18- تشجيع التلميذات على ممارسة بعض المناشط الضرورية لتوفير الأمن والسلامة في المنزل .
19- تعريف التلميذات ببعض الإسعافات الأولية التي تساعدهن على التعامل مع الحوادث .
20- توجيه التلميذات إلى فهم العلاقة الوثيقة بين الملبس والمظهر والعادات والقيم الإسلامية .
21- تشجيع التلميذات على التوعية الصحية والغذائية لأفراد الأسرة .
22- تنمية الاتجاهات الإيجابية لدى التلميذات نحو ترشيد الاستهلاك في مجالات الحياة الأسرية المختلفة .
23- إكساب التلميذات بعض السلوك الإيجابي للمحافظة على الصحة العامة وسلامة الحواس .
24- تنمية الملاحظة الواعية عند التلميذات وتوجيهها كمنطق لتكوين التفكير العلمي .
25- تشجيع التلميذات على المشاركة الإيجابية في حملات نظافة البيئة المحلية .
