Kids shouldn't have to bring their "work" home with them. Even grown ups don't like doing that

Some schools are required to send home work and its school wide. I was a little surprised by that one.

Those that are for homework, or don't see or don't see it as a problem, are those who most likely think that it is so important so that their students KNOW the standards so that they will pass the test.

Didn't get to it in my group but I was going to say that sometimes, esp with ND/younger students, it can be a huge battle to get it done.

Homework can be overwhelming to many students and if they don't have support at home to help it can be a lot.

I like to tell my students that school is their only job. We like to come home and enjoy our relaxation time so I am a strong believer that after school my students should just worry about being a kid.

Students spend more time at school than at home. If children learn best from experiences they should be going home spending time with their families, playing with toys, playing outside, and decompressing. Instead of homework what about the idea of at-home practice for parents who have the time and want to work with them on skills at home, or just assigning readings that they can read with their family members, friends, animals, or anyone? Assigning real-world assignments like finding words or letters out in the real world, shapes, numbers, etc. Homework shouldn't be for a grade the parent shouldn't reflect the student's score or learning.

IF homework is sent home, homework should be something applicable to real world stuff that grown ups at home can actually help with and not feel overwhelmed themselves. (like baking a cake or counting how many socks they have). "Real" homework is overwhelming and can take away from the love of learning.
