This means you don't need to open each database individually to search for resources.. use Discovery instead!

AND - search results include BOTH keywords when linked with  AND.

OR - results include EITHER keyword or both of them.

NOT - results will exclude the keyword following NOT.


Examples
'nursing homes OR care homes AND dementia' 
'physical education OR PE AND schools NOT colleges'

Speech marks can also be used to search an exact phrase eg. "Bank of England". Rather than searching each word individually, speech marks ensure results include the exact phrase.

Refining your results is a great way to find exactly what you're looking for. 

You can limit your results to show only physical copies of books by clicking 'catalogue only'. You can then limit further by selecting which library site you are using. For example, by clicking 'Sixth Form' you will only see books stocked in the Nucleus. 

If you're working at home and know you can only access digital resources you can limit your results to exclude print books. Under 'limit by source type' select eBooks, academic journals and reports.

There are many other useful limiters that you can refine your results with including publication date, subject, place of publication and publisher. Have a play around with some of these limiters to see how they can improve your search results.
