1. The man was shot by a German sniper through his cheek. He seemed to be relieved the shot wasn't anywhere in which he might've died. The medics were able to help him and evacuate him. He seemed to be glad that he could go back home to the U.S. despite his injury.

2. This soldier can be described as worried on June 5 because he knows many of his fellow troops, and possibly himself, will die in this fight. However, he wouldn't except anything other than victory. On June 6 he found out they had tricked the Germans.
