Picasso worked with fellow painter Georges Braque in creating the beginnings of the Cubist movement in art. Their paintings show a palette of earth tones, with straight lines, shadows and shapes.

His girlfriend Fernande Olivier, appeared in many of the artist's Cubist works. “Seated Woman” (shown above) was one of them. However they broke up in 1912 after 7 years together.
