Pneumonia is an infection that causes one or both lung's air sacks to fill up with puss or any substance that causes difficulty breathing. This infection is especially dangerous to older adults, young children, and those with weaker immune systems. Pneumonia is also known as 'Winter Fever.'

Hippocrates took account of pneumonia around 460 - 370 BC. Hippocrates called the sickness, peripneumonia. He recognized fever, chest pain, and coughs as symptoms.

Despite pneumonia being traced back thousands of years ago, it was not until 1875 that we started to understand it as a whole. Edward Klebs discovered pneumonia under a microscope for the first time. Later in the 1880s, Carl Friedlander and Albert Frankel identified common causes of this disease.

When pneumonia is diagnosed, doctors will do an exam. They check everything such as appearance and especially breathing. They listen to the lungs and if need be, order a chest X-ray.

Treat fever with aspirin and other medicines
Drink fluids
Take warm drinks, hot baths, or use a humidifief

Lung diseases

- etc.

Children and seniors are especially prone to it. Animals such as dogs and cats are at risk.

Pneumonia is contagious as most viruses are. Sneezing, coughing, and talking send droplets into the air. When a person is infected with pneumonia, those droplets contain it which spreads from person to person. A less common way of infection is from touching something that has been exposed to pneumonia and then touching your face.
