         <description><![CDATA[<div>Odysseus has three mentors throughout the story, Athena,&nbsp; Tiresias, and Circe. We see Athena as a mentor when Odysseus says "I pondered how to hurt him worst, if but Athena granted what I prayed for" (Homer line 263). Tiresias demonstrates mentorship when Odysseus visits him in the land of the dead. Cice is shown as a mentor when "Circe informs him that in order to reach home he must journey to the land of the dead..." (Homer 576).</div>]]></description>

Demonstrating the greek value of hospitality, Odysseus and his men went to Polyphemus's cave bringing "a goatskin full of that sweet liquor" (Homer line 137).&nbsp;Him and his men end up enraging the Polyphemus so they can't escape the cave. Odysseus and his men stab the cyclops' eye and hide under the sheep to escape, with the help of Athena. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When Odysseus and his men begin to approach Scylla and Charybdis, &nbsp;Odysseus shows leadership when reassuring his men "Have we never been in danger before this.. did I not keep my nerve and use my wits to find a way out for us"(Homer 583)? Circe advised the men before they left to stay clear of Charybdis because if you sail near Scylla instead you will lose only 6 men instead of everyone. Along with Circe, "Zeus help us pull away before we founder" (Homer 583). There are two gods helping the men through this test. </div>]]></description>
