A poster project in AP US History that allowed kids the opportunity to add and to learn from other students' thinking. I also like the instant feedback in World History that was also data driven. Student discussion and review after an assessment is definitely a great way to improve student skills. KAP Geometry had a great use of technology. 

I can see myself implementing both of these things especially the APUSH strategy. The student feedback session is a little more challenging due to the number of absences. I really enjoyed seeing Brandy Cabe's class using Booklet to review material learned. Students were very engaged and competitive with one another, cheering as they got answers correct.

Having time for group discussions on provocative questions works to garner deeper engagement. I’m not sure how to incorporate that into English 1 academic when a lot of focus is put into behavior management and preventing side conversations during class. I saw some great classroom interactions between teacher and students. Two of the classes were quite but also engaged with the lesson. We saw a class where the lesson was a little chaotic but the students were still engaged on the task at hand. One thing I would like to implement is getting a padlet so I’m not stuck on the board. I also like the relationships I saw between students and teachers in all of the rooms we visited. It was obvious that each teacher created a safe environment where students felt comfortable taking risks. Rationalizing and working through answer choices with the class in order to check for confidence is crucial. He gets immediate feedback and is able to see where improvement is necessary. Looking around his room, he also has a March Madness bracket that integrated with English. In the biology class I went to students were clearly well introduced to routines and procedures. The teacher constantly walked around to keep students on track and used lots of prompts to have students switch between tasks. This is something I can definitely implement. In the English II class I observed it was a very different vibe. The class was very loud, but in a good way. Students were having great discussions about the learning topic and the teacher would hop in and out of discussions to keep them on topic. I observed lots of great teacher-student interaction in each classroom I visited today. The teachers had a great rapport with their students, and the students were participating and actively engaged in learning. I really liked Ms. Dachniwsky's interactive use of the padlet with the Smartboard, and would like to get that set up for use in my classes. Mrs. Mixon's close-up video demonstration of a chemistry lab was great...I liked how she would pause the video and interject with comments and check for comprehension before proceeding to the next segment of the video. Mr. Patterson had a timer on the SmartBoard, kids wrote some answers, and then he asked questions about what they were reading and writing. Students were engaged because of the processing time. Then KAP Chem with Ms. Wells was engaging, and all the kids were talking about the video they had just watched and helping each other answer the qujestions. Some hands were quietly raised, and teacher was walking around answering questions. It kept the kiddos engaged. She continually would pause and talk about the segment they just watched and then question them. Cabe had established so many routines with her students. It was awesome to see them just respond in certain ways since they had been trained to do so. I also liked how she had them do individual practice and then paired them up for another activity. Collins technology was amazing. Using the iPad kept her mobile in the classroom, not tied to the board. She was able to walk around the entire time to guide and redirect students. I loved it!
