         The necklace is introduced with Mathilde meeting up with one of her friends, Mme. Forestier. Loisel Mathilde starts talking to Forestier and asks if she could borrow something from her and she said yes. Sifting through her she finds the necklace and in awe she stares it. After this she wears it during the evening reception and then loses it. Towards the end of the story she spots Mme. Forestier and talks to her about her life and how it was turned upside down because she lost the necklace. Mme.
