Then they would have to inquire and research about the specifications and needs that have to be fulfilled by the turbines before creating them. Next they would have to analyse the existing products and se how they could make their product unique for example this turbine does not harm the environment, fishes are able to pass through and no species are hurt unlike the other existing similar products.
And lastly before moving on to developing the idea they would have to create a design brief or a brief plan/summary of your idea for your product. This is what I feel they might have done in the process of Criterion A which is Inquiring and Analysing.

The already existing hydropower's are highly expensive, whereas, this invention was useful as well as affordable.
This is the stage of the design cycle where most of the research work gets done. Where the creators look for ideas and either try to improve what already exists, or try to create something immensely useful. This Turbine is not expensive, and takes up a little amount of space compared to other things.

This new technology is nature friendly and easy to put and access. It can provide electricity to 60 houses per turbine. And it has also been tested in Chile and has been doing very well. The mechanism is not complicated so finding someone yo do the job won't be a problem. The Vortex Turbine generates power 24/7.

In this stage of making the whirlpool turbine the creators probably did most of their research. For example how the turbine work or what the current of the water is. This way when the start getting new ideas they know if it will work or not. They also probably asked lot of questions and did lots of tests before making the final model. A few examples of question relating to this topic are: How does the turbine work? How much electricity can it generate? Why did this not work? They makers would also search for similar products on the market so they can make theirs more cost efficient, easier to install, more useful etc.

The turbine is from a company from Spain (country of Spain on the website)and it's fish-friendly. A self cleaning area can avoid large debris form entering it. The fish are not harmed in the different machines. The different products it's made from are a concrete basin (for the flow to get guided), a self cleaning screen and there is also a specially designed impeller. People in the company would make a design of the turbulent at the start and will discuss how it can be made (the turbulent).

It comprises of concrete-basin which will make it last for roughly 100 years.

While researching to develop certain ideas for the product, the following categories, according to me were probably most important (in relation with the company and the product): 1. Does anything like this exist yet? 2. Who is this turbine for? 3. Can it be made cost-effective and easy-to-build in rural areas? According to me the ones mentioned above were probably the most important. I'm not saying that they were the ONLY research questions, just most significant.

Creating Solution- This is the part where they will start making the product(after the design is made digitally). You have to first dig a big enough hole for the turbine to fit in and then the concrete is installed by the people living in the rural area as the video said the labourers can install the cement and then when there is some remaning spot you can fill it back with soil. After they know that it is functional they will open the chamber thing and let the water flow and that will provide the rural people energy.

People will go to a place where the hydropower turbulent needs to be installed (near a water body). They will first dig out the space where the turbine will be placed. The altitude will be 1.5 meters deep. Once the digging process has been completely, builders will start to assemble to parts. After the turbine has been made, water will start to flow and energy would be created by the force of water.

People living in small villages and rural areas require electricity, that is both eco-friendly, as well as cost-effective. These turbines use hydro-power to provide electricity to around 60 houses in rural areas. They are innovative as they allow fishes and the eco-system of the area that they are in to be unharmed and not affected by the turbines. It also takes less space, and can easily be attached, as said in the video by "unskilled workers." These turbines are also easy maintenance as they only have one part that is in constant motion. The turbines also require less space, as compared to other hydro-power sources like dams. This is because they just require a small area near a flowing water source, and can easily be placed there, with minimal affect on the eco-system in that area. Similar products that use hydro-energy are not as cost-effective or easy to maintain.

The first stage of the Design Cycle is Inquiring and analysing. In this step, for the Turbulent Company, I would have to look at many different aspects. Firstly, I would need to know and justify the need for this project. The need for this project is so that villagers are able to use electricity from hydro-energy received from the Turbulent Company project. The research I would have done for this company would include the location, the materials required, the villagers’ population, the people and other things as well. Then, I would need to look at existing products. I would have to think about how my product, the company is different than any other product, and why people would choose mine over others, and principally the reason why my product is unique and better. The last step of inquiring and analysing is developing a brief, in which I would look at what exactly I want to create and make a brief idea/explanation.

The current issue being that the existing Dams/products are way too expensive, large, and require a lot of maintenance to be placed in the smaller villages/areas that need to receive electricity. After analysing this issue they would have to look at the other strands that come with creating such a product, such as making sure that the fish are not able to enter the turbine, it is easy to build and not to expensive and more...

You would have to look into topics like the landscape around the water body because you need to see if it would be okay to install that machine there since you need to check is there is already another machine or system in place there. Another thing you would have to look into would be the population of the village since you would have to see how many of the turbulence machines you should install depending on the amount of people living there. Lastly I think that another thing that you would have to check would be the type of people living there for the maintenance of the system. Though it is very low maintenance and unskilled people can work on the project too, but you would have to make sure that they have some kind of knowledge about such mechanisms and if not then teach them.

It also takes a lot of money to maintain the the dam. While designing they thought about the cost that the village could afford. The dams are not environmentally friendly. Then in this case, the next thing to do would be to brainstorm ideas on how to generate/provide electricity to these homes. While doing this, it has to be kept in mind which one of these ideas would provide the most energy, which one would be eco-friendly, and use the least space and power, animal-friendly, etc. Using a checklist such as this, cut down on options and find one final idea. Do some research and see if the idea is reasonable and realistic to create your product in the given situation you are in.

I need to keep in mind the advantages and the disadvantages. I am going to try my best to not have any disadvantages. I want to help the society in many different ways and so I need to think of something that is benifical, long lasting and proper. By making a dam, I can supply electricity to the poor/villages. I can help them get light and fullfill at least some important things that are useful. The damn which I make should be very organised and controlable. I need to make a strong dam, I need to make sure that it takes very less space and does not damage the environment, By putting the machine I also need to keep in mind the lives of sea animals and so that they don't get harmed I need to make the machine properly and carefully, I need to also keep in mind that it is not destroying nature and also if I am making it then it should cause any damage in future. I also feel the cost should be negotiated so that the villagers can afford the machine. So to do all this the machine has to be superior and checked multiple times. The designers should keep all of these factors in mind. By making this dam we can provide the villagers with electricity and maybe help them many other different ways.

Sometimes you also might have to change parts of your machine to suit the situation/condition where it is supposed to be used and basically customise according to the needs of the place. They would also have to take the environmental situation there into account as if they are using water bodies with fish or maybe trash in it, it should tamper with the machine's functions. Finally you might also have to change it a bit to make sure that it is always giving constant energy maybe even at a higher rate which would again depend on the population and basically how many houses there are.

Inquiring and Analyzing Stage - During Criteria A, I think I would start by analyzing a need and then creating a design brief according to my need. I would do so by doing a survey in the rural area and ask them what is the main problem they are facing. In this case, the need was to fabricating energy for the rural village since there was no electricity. I would also keep in mind the cost and harm to environment. I would also decide to carry on some extra research so that creating my design specifications would be easy. My extra research would answer questions such as how I can make my product sustainable?, how I can make it cost efficient? Is it easy to build? etc. I would then analyze existing products in the market so that I can make my product the most efficient/sustainable. Furthermore, I would then decide to create a design brief. My design brief would state that I would create a design using the whirl pools motion to create energy which would be safe for fish and resistant to debris.

It was also made in such a way that it could be assembled easily and had a simple design. This is useful as this turbine can be constructed in rural areas by “unskilled” workers, with ease. It is also designed to be safe for the environment/ecosystem of the water body, as fish are not harmed by these turbines. Since the turbines have been designed well, and have many different features, we can infer that the designers of this product had developed detailed design ideas and specifications, and have probably created diagrams or models to make sure that their product works well.

After designing the product, the creators would probably construct a detailed plan on how they can execute their design. After this they would follow the plan and make turbines in a rural area. The plan would include digging a hole near a flowing water (such as a river or a canal), then they would attach the turbines, and then test out the turbine by allowing water into that area. After executing the plan, they would scrutinise the product and see if they can improve on it in any way.

After watching the video, we can understand that the product was, in fact a success, and it worked well. This is because it could work 24/7, thus providing electricity to 60 houses, at all times. We also saw that the product was cost-effective, and safe for fish and other animals in the ecosystem of the water body. It also worked well even when small pieces of debris or mud came in the turbines, showing us how useful and efficient it is. If I was the creator of the product, I would also take feedback from people in the rural areas, and see if I could improve the product in any way.

First thing in the Developing Ideas part that i would do is make some specifications to my product and elaborate on the brief idea. Then Start seeing ways of how to make it in a price that villagers can pay for. For example there can only be one turbine you do not need 2 so things like that that can make your product better. After I have Chosen one main design for the hydro electric machine i put it in a real life situation. Then Comes the most important part it that i must sketch the idea out so that then everyone has a good view of what my product is.

At this point the product is built and being tested for the first time it could go well or it could go horribly wrong. If it goes well then we can find ways to upgrade the filter and make it even better. Also if it goes terribly wrong then we must go back to the end of the developing ideas stage and see where we can change the filter and then we can override the flaws and make them better.

The second stage of the Design Cycle is Developing Ideas. In this step, for the Turbulent Company, I would start by creating a more specific design specification, in which I would create many ideas which fell into the design brief perfectly. This is also falls into developing design ideas. From those few ideas, I would select my chosen design and then create drawings, diagrams and sketches. This stage is when I actually start thinking about what I want my final product to look like.

The third stage of the Design Cycle is Creating the solution. In this step, I would actually being creating the product. So, I would start with constructing a logical plan of all the steps required to actually create the Turbulent project. Then, I would continue by finding people who are actually capable of creating the product, people who have the required skills and ability. This step is extremely important, so that I can assure that my product will be made with perfect help and the required skills as well as people. The next step is crucial to the whole project, which is following the plan and finally creating the project/solution. Therefore, in this step, I would have to make sure that the logical plan is successfully followed and completed. The next step is justifying the changes that I have made in either the final solution or the plan. So, here I can mention the small changes that were made in the final solution. Sometimes, we don’t think about all the things in detail and can forget the small details. An example of this can be maybe we underestimate/overestimate the amount of houses that can be provided with energy from one machine. Therefore, in this step we justify the changes made.

The fourth stage of the Design Cycle is Evaluating. As the name suggests, this step is all about reflections, reviewing and evaluating. Therefore, in this step, I would test my product, receive people’s opinions, evaluate the success level of the solution, explain how my solution has improved over the course of time, and the impact of my project to people, society and anyone in fact. In the last step is always important because this is when we actually starting thinking about how our solutions solves an important and unattended problem.
