Britney Cartoon

The author of the cartoon is satirizing how people spend their lives by watching other's lives. He shows this by creating an ironic scene of a woman claiming that Britney Spears needs to get a life, even though she has been sitting on the couch watching her for twelve hours. The author, if he had it his way, would want people to go and live their own lives, and not idolize a few celebrities, like so many people do today. The author is demonstrating how people often have a hypocritical point of view, and like to criticize others, despite doing exactly what they are criticizing others for.

This is an example of satire and not parody because they didn't directly make a joke of it, they are exaggerating at how far the industry will go to gain benefit for themselves. This satire continues to be relevant in our society as it depicts the constant personality of many, as our society will do anything they can to get the extra dollar.
