Assistive Device Cases: Putting it All Together by Skolky, Rachel

A continuation of the first padlet: Answer the questions: What device would recommend?
How will you educate the patient before they transfer and ambulates?
Which gait pattern should the patient start with?
How will you guard the patient?
Which factors impact your decision?

Rollator due to endurance restrictions. Instruct Pt to stay close to it and not let it get to far ahead of him. 2 point gait pattern with swing-to if he feels in control, otherwise we'd do step-to with 3 point gait pattern. Guard posterior lateral and not in front to not block him. Factors to consider is the length of time we can have the Pt ambulate before tiring. We'd provide breaks and advance as Pt hopefully increases endurance capabilities.
