My Samanid Bowl project wishes peace be upon you and may wisdom guide you. I used the base eight geometric pattern to decorate my bowl. I used hues of blue with a warm pop of color because I though it was soothing and went well together.

I used 5 colors of gallery glass, and used them over my sketch. I wanted to do a purple to green gradient from the rim to the center. Overall, I spent 6 hours on it.

To make this suncatcher, I first went to Michaels and bought the required colors of gallery glass. However, three were missing, so I swapped them with similar colors. I then taped a piece of plastic wrap over my design. I traced the lines using the black gallery glass and then filled them in with the other colors. The next day, I applied a second layer. Maintaining precise lines was difficult, but the more I practiced, the easier it got. It was also interesting watching the pastel liquid turn into a translucent solid. After several hours in the sun, it was dry but still floppy and supple. I took the photo above, and I’m still waiting for it to dry completely, but I think this was a cool project.

My Samanid Bowl project means "Trust in God." I used a bowl under it to help mold its shape. I used acrylic paint to make it look good and painted some cool designs on it.

I chose this particular project because I found it interesting to use your initials and turn it into art. My inspiration were hibiscus flowers, and tropical beaches. This project took me about 2 weeks to sketch, trace, and color. My procedures were to lightly color with my color pencils to blend and give a vibrant look. My materials were: black sharpie, color pencils, and a black marker.
