Students have a study guide in their binders that shows information they need to know about the globe such as continents, oceans, equator, prime meridian, latitude and longitude, and cardinal and intermediate directions. We will have a quiz on this sometime during the week of Sept. 9-13.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Announcements: </strong><br>- SOCIAL STUDIES TEST ON TUESDAY. This is based on our graphic of the globe. Students will need to know all of the things on that graphic (there is one below). <br>- Please check the email about the NEW permission slips that came home. Our field trip date changed to Sept. 20, so I will need the updated form in order for your child to attend. <br>- Fun Run on September 25th. Folders for money collection came home Wednesday.<br>- If you choose to purchase books from scholastic. Please don't forget to use our class code QPPYR! <br>- We will have a PBIS party in a few weeks. Students must have good behavior in order to be able to go. If a student has moved their clip down multiple times a month leading up to the party, then they will not be allowed to attend.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Announcements: </strong> <br>-FUN RUN September 25.<br>-<strong>AR Ends October 4th!</strong> A letter came home a few weeks ago about how to keep track of your student's AR goals. Please remember that students do not get all of the necessary time to meet their goals during class time. Reading MUST be done at home in order for them to accomplish this. They are allowed to take tests in the morning time, and during reading centers.<br>- We will have a <strong>PBIS party</strong> (PBIS = positive behavioral interventions and support) in a few weeks. Students must have good behavior in order to be able to go. If a student has moved their clip down 3 or more times in a month AND/OR has 5 or more pieces of unfinished work, then they will not be allowed to attend. <br>-<strong>Fall Break</strong> is October 7-11!<br>- <strong>Field trip</strong> forms/money due by Wednesday. Our trip is on the 30th. If you volunteered to chaperone, you can meet us at the school at 8:15. We will leave around 8:30. You an drive or ride the bus. <br><br><strong>Homework:<br></strong>*Parents, this might look like a lot, but your kiddos need your help to pace themselves!          <title>September 30 - October 4</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Announcements: </strong> <br>-<strong>AR Ends October 4th!</strong> A letter came home a few weeks ago about how to keep track of your student's AR goals. Please remember that students do not get all of the necessary time to meet their goals during class time. Reading MUST be done at home in order for them to accomplish this. They are allowed to take tests in the morning time, and during reading centers.<br>-<strong>Fall Break</strong> is October 7-11!<br>- <strong>Field trip</strong> is on MONDAY. If you volunteered to chaperone, I will see you at 8:15 on Monday morning! :)<br>- <strong><em>Because of Winn-Dixie </em></strong><strong>celebration: </strong>For our kiddos who do not participate in GATE on Wednesdays, we have been having a book club during that time. We are almost finished with our book, <em>Because of Winn-Dixie. </em>Your child should have received an orange form for permission to watch the movie during lunch, and a list for a few goodies to bring. We have SEVERAL people who signed up to bring a jar of pickles, so if you would like to bring something else, let me know. <br>-<strong>New seating arrangement: </strong>I have had quite a few parents request a new seating placement for their child. Please know that I want to honor your requests as quickly as possibly, but making a new seating chart is somewhat like rocket science. I will be switching everyone's seating arrangement after Fall Break. <br><br><strong>Homework:</strong><br><strong>- Read for 15-30 minutes and record reading on reading log. <br>- Memorize Multiplication Facts!! </strong>At this point, students should have almost all of their facts memorized. It is CRUCIAL that they memorize them, because everything we do from here on out requires automaticity with multiplication facts. <br>- <strong>Math Spiral Sheet </strong><br>- <strong>Study Spelling </strong><br><br></div><div><strong>Reading</strong>:<br>This week we will be reading <em>The Raft.</em> We will continue talking about making inferences about the character based on the character's actions and the illustrations in the book.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I hope everyone had a wonderful fall break! I enjoyed hearing about all of the things you all did as families. <br><br><strong>Announcements: </strong> <br>-<strong>AR </strong>started over this week. Students will have until Christmas Break to complete their second nine week's goal. Only students who obtain all of their points, and maintain an average of 85% will go to the AR parties. Students MUST make their AR goal 3/4 quarters in order to participate in the school-wide, PTA funded AR Mystery Trip at the end of the year. <br><strong>-Character Parade</strong> is on October 25th<br><br><strong>Homework:</strong><br><strong>- Read for 15-30 minutes and record reading on reading log. <br>- Continue memorizing Multiplication Facts</strong><br>- <strong>Math Spiral Sheet </strong><br>- <strong>Study Spelling (Students have a sheet in their binder.  I will no longer be posting them on here</strong>.<strong> If your child's gets lost, please e-mail me and I will send you a digital copy.)</strong><br><br></div><div><strong>Reading</strong>:<br>This week we are finishing up our unit on inferencing. We  will be moving into "wondering and questioning" next week. <br><br><strong>Math</strong>:<br>We are finishing up our multiplication lessons, but that doesn't mean we are finished with it. They will STILL enter through the front doors like normal.
