-Who was Jason going to send a text to? What was it going to say? Why does he not send it?
-How premeditated is what Becky is saying and doing? -Did she plan to do all this?
-What does Becky want and why?
-What does Jason want and why?
-Does Jason remember the teachers Becky is mentioning? If so, why does he choose not to act like he does?

Another study showed that children of parents who completed suicide are at a significantly increased risk of completing suicide themselves. The younger the child at the time of the parent's suicide, the greater the risk of his or her own suicide.  Jason's Mum committed suicide when Jason was in Year 4, so he was 8/9 and it's implied that Becky's Dad committed suicide when she was young. These traumatic events would have big impacts on them and their characters. Children who have lost a parent have been found to be more susceptible to develop anxiety, depression and self esteem issues.
This fact relates heavily to Becky, as it is shown that she struggles with her mental health and self harm, having many scars which suggests she has been committing self harm for a while. Although someone who self harms doesn't necessarily intend to commit suicide, it is understood that the pain that causes someone to self-harm may also drive someone to suicide.

Affects of Racism on Mental Health in children

Young people who report experiences of racism are thought to be more susceptible to developing mental health problems, including: 

The American Academy of Pediatrics also say that even if children do not directly experience racism themselves, they can be just as significantly affected by witnessing racism as those who experience it firsthand.

Intense and persistent stress can influence how the brain develops, intensifying negative emotions such as fear and impacting learning and memory.
This would affect almost all the students that are in the play, as most are black or Asian.

Abuse
Many abused children find it difficult to form lasting and appropriate friendships. They lack the ability to trust others in the most basic of ways. Children who have suffered long-term abuse can lack basic social skills and may struggle to communicate as naturally as other children can.

These children may also exhibit a tendency to over-comply with authority figures and to use aggression for solving interpersonal issues. This links to Jason, as his violence at the very beginning of the play incites the action and events of the whole play.

It is shown that Jason fears his father, and that he is emotionally abused by him. The power dynamic between the two is so contrasting that Jason seems to be a completely different person with his Dad compared to his peers.
