My name is Melissa from MY Film Festival and I am contacting you today on behalf of our group to let you know about a project we have begun which we would be delighted to partner with your charity on.

MY Film Festival is a registered charity that provides the stage for the voice of marginalized youth in a 3 day event held at the QUT campus.  We are hoping to both engage amateur film makers and also raise awareness of the issues associated with marginalized groups and the charities that work with them.

We are currently in the planning stages of the film festival and right now we are contacting selected charities to see if they would be will to partner with us to help promote the film festival and reach out to their audience for potential film makers and festival attendees.

The film festival will focus on a different group for each of the 3 days, the first will focus on Indigenous youth, the second on immigrant youth and the third will be youths with disabilities.  For each day we will showcase shortlisted films from amateur film makers, with the community invited to attend the screening.  Tickets will be available to the public for $10 and all the proceeds of this event will be given to that day's charity partner.

We would be excited by the opportunity to work with your charity for our festival and would be grateful for any input you could give us on what you might like to see from this event, as well as any spokespeople you might know of that would be willing to assist us with promotion.

55% of youths in detention on an average night in June quarter, 2016, were Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2016).
