ACT I: Macbeth and Banquo are confronted by three witches

Something weird happened today while I was hanging out with Banquo. We noticed three girls approaching us. They seemed to be sisters. Each of them were distinctly weird in their own way. They claimed they had information to tell to both Banquo and I. According to the witches, I will become a king as well as the Thane of Cawdor while my poor friend Banquo will not. They say “lesser than Macbeth, and greater,” and “not so happy, yet much happier”; then they tell him that he will never be king but that his children will sit upon the throne (1.3.63–65). I feel truly honored of hearing the news that I will in fact become a king and another thane. October 1st, 1606

Lady Macbeth has read the letter that I left her. She believes I am a very ambitious individual but I lack the courage to kill. She says she has a murder plan to use on King Duncan. Do I really want to risk killing such a great king? The people of Scotland would be devastated to know their wonderful king is dead. Is it too late to back out? Lady Macbeth states “When you durst do it,” she says, “then you were a man” (1.7.49). Am I considered a coward for not wanting to commit a murder? October 3rd, 1606

I have received news that King Duncan will be paying a visit to my place. This is the perfect time to plot. As I received the news, my mind started to drift to having dark thoughts. Lady Macbeth and I have come up with the perfect plan to fulfill my dark thoughts. We have invited King Duncan and his servants over for dinner but as dinner gets closer, I start having second thoughts on whether I should continue through with this plan. Lady Macbeth will make sure the servants get drunk to the point where they pass out while I will lead Duncan to a room so he can rest "When we have marked with blood those sleep two of his chamber and use their very daggers"(1.7.76-77). I will then commit the murder while he is sleeping. October 5th, 1606

The deed is done. I have committed the murder of King Duncan. Once I was alone, I imagined a dagger. I kept wondering "Is this a dagger which I see before me? The handle toward my hand" (2.2.1.33-34). A dagger that was "pulling" me toward the room King Duncan was sleeping in? Once the signal was heard, it was go time. The whole entire time I was in that room, I felt nothing but fear. I am so terrified to return to the crime scene as I keep hearing voices telling me that I should be the one dead. I have also killed the two drunk servants. I believe the reason I have killed the servants is because of the amount of guilt I feel. October 7th, 1606

Today is the day I am finally crowned king. This is the most exciting day of my life and I have my wonderful wife to accompany me in this celebration. The witches were correct when they said "All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter! Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none. So all hail, Macbeth and Banquo! (1.3.53;70-71). I hope my poor fellow Banquo is okay as what the witches stated about his future has become to be the truth. I pray no one gets in the way of my kingship and claiming my crown. October 9th, 1606

My lady and I keep having these terrible thoughts. Is this another feel of guilt I'm having? We both haven't been resting as much as we should. These thoughts cannot get in our way, not now! "In the affliction of these terrible dreams that shake us nightly. Better be with the dead, whom we, to gain our peace, have sent to peace" (3.2.18-20). I do feel bad for what happened to Duncan especially since something similar could have happened to Banquo but it had to be done! No one must know about these thoughts and dreams or the guilt I feel! I cannot be seen as a coward, not today! October 11th, 1606

Tonight is the first and hopefully only night I have seen Banquo's ghost. "Prithee see there. Behold, look! Lo, how say you? Why, what care I? If thou canst nod, speak too." (3.4.69-70). Is my good friend Banquo truly deceased? Why am I suddenly seeing his ghost? I have so many unanswered questions I need to ask starting with...Is Banquo okay? October 13th, 1606

Today I have gone to visit the witches once again. I am asking them to predict what will be my future. They have spoken to me many things in this visit but the one that stood out the most was what sounded like I need to be aware of Macduff. They said "Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff! Beware the Thane of Fife! Dismiss me. Enough. (4.1.71-72). Why do I need to be aware of Macduff? Does the Thane of Fife have something coming for my crown? I now know I need to be extra cautious of my surroundings especially since I just recieved my long overdue title as king. October 15th, 1606

I've been thinking to myself on ways to be extra cautious since I have found out Macduff may ruin my spot as king. The only solution I have come up with is murdering Macduff and his family. "Then live, Macduff; what need I fear of thee? But yet I'll make assurance double sure And take a bond of fate. Thou shalt not live" (4.1.82-84). Macduff should have left my kingship and I alone. He has it coming for him! Tonight I will go to his house while he is away helping Malcolm and make his family pay for his decisions and actions. This will teach him not to mess with me EVER again. October 17th, 1606

Yet I have known those which have walked in their sleep, who have died holily in their beds." (5.2.47-48). She is not as sick as I thought she was. At least she hasn't been murdered. No matter what her fate is whether she lives or dies, I have to continue to do whatever I can to stop Macduff from taking my crown away from me. I cannot be a coward at this time. My lady will soon be gone and I must do this for her! October 19th, 1606
