         <description><![CDATA[<p>Akbar was born October 15th, 1542 and died October 1605. He had six wife’s and five kids. He became The third Mughal emperor in 1556 at 13. He helped stabilize his empire which was previously failing. He was known for his military conquests and made the Mansabdari system (a ranking system for military). He survived an attempted assassination in 1564 after an arrow hit him. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Jahangir was born August 30th, 1569 and died October 28th, 1627. He had around 20 wives in his life, the 20th being his favorite. He liked art and make a golden age for painting. He did architectural work like the “beautification” of Akbar’s tomb. </p>]]></description>

         <title>Shah Jahan</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>He was born as a prince on January 5th, 1592, he was the son Jahangir. He died January 22nd, 1666. He got a good education, he did best at warfare and diplomacy. He lead his father’s army’s, he expanded the Mughal power in the northwest. Under his control the Mughal empire flourished  reaching its peak in economy, arts and culture. He fell ill in 1657 leading to a succession struggle among sons. In July 1658 he was imprisoned by Aurangzeb till his death in 1666.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>He was born November 3rd, 1618 and died March 3rd, 1707. He had 3 wives and 10 kids. He was the longest Mughal emperor lasting 49 years from 1658 to 1707. He crowned himself emperor after imprisoning his father. He reimposed Jizyah tax on non-Muslim and destroyed Hindu temple. For the last 20 years of his like he was constantly involved in warfare. His empires internal problems grew larger till he died in 1707 leaving a fractured empire left. His successors were unable to keep the empire together.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>He was born October 14th, 1643 and died February 27th, 1712 in Pakistan. He had 4 wives. Before his ruling he spend his youth in administrative and military roles, he even attempted to over throw is father, Aurangzeb in 1680. In 1707 he became the emperor of the Mughal empire. He faced revolts which he suppressed by the Marathas, Rajputs, and Sikhs. He later died in 1712 ending his 5 year reign.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Jahandar Shah</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Jahandar was born on May 9th, 1661 and died February 11th, 1713. He had 4 known wives. At the age of 10 in 1671 he was given an administrative role. Before becoming emperor he was known for being a businessman who sailed across the Indian Ocean. He served as governor of Sindh. After his father’s death in 1712 he and his brother claimed the throne, in a battle his brother was killed making Jahandar the emperor. He was known as the first puppet ruler and for erratic decisions. He also neglected state affairs. He was met with opposition. He then was defeated by his nephew, captured and executed in 1713.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Farrukhsiyar</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>He was born September 11th, 1683 and died April 9th, 1719. In 1696 he accompanied his father on a campaign in Bengal when his father became governor. Farrukhsiyar was appointed as a deputy. In 1713 he became emperor with the crucial support of the Sayyid Brothers. Farrukhsiyar ordered the brutal torture and execution of Sikh leader Banda Singh Badadur and his followers in 1716. In 1717 he granted significant trading advantages to the British East India Company. He briefly abolished the jizya (tax on non-Muslims) but re-established it in 1717. His attempts to centralize power failed leading to him being over thrown by the Sayyid Brothers. He was tortured, blinded with a needle, and executed in 1719 by Ajit Singh.</p>]]></description>
