Living conditions in Japanese internment camps were not ideal, since they had so many people within the campgrounds, housing was a big issue. There was no privacy, beds had to be made by the people who were forced to be contained. Adding to the lack of freedom that was ever present, guards would count and occasionally search their bunks to be sure they didn’t have anything prohibited. The Japanese people had to be cautious, as not only the guards themselves carried guns, but each Internment Camp had about eight towers with men that would shoot if they saw someone trying to escape.

The biggest concern after both the attack of Pearl Harbor and 9/11 was that there would be more attacks. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the main concern of another attack was on the West Coast due to a large amount of Asian-Americans living there at that time. This resulted in the government putting anyone of Japanese decent in internment camps.

After the Internment Camps were shut down in 1946, there were still tons of issues with prejudice, many Americans would not allow Japanese Americans into certain places of business or even apartments to rent, with what little money they had. They also faced an obstacle of finding somewhere to live, once again with the little money they had and the hatred they were faced with when moving into the mainland. According to the Federal Bank Reserve in San Francisco Japanese Americans had lost over 400 million dollars, so to help Japanese Americans back on their feet, President Truman decided to give only $38 to share among 26,560 others who had suffered in the Internment camps.
