Molten iron is impure so a basic oxygen converter is turned on to react with the carbon, sulfur and phosphorus. Then calcium oxide is added to get rid of the silicon dioxide and phosphorus oxide. Then other metals may be added to form Steel alloys.</div>]]></description>
