1) Peer tutoring

2) Give more challenging worksheets

1) How to create DI lessons for the class all the time?

2) Some HAL students feel very complacent and so there is no need to pay attention in class. When we ask them questions, they are also not willing to share. They are only interested to do computer work. How to engage them?

3) They tend to dominate a conversation or group work when they are paired with their classmates. How to get them to share then?

4) Impossible to do DI lessons all the time, so how to differentiate?

Majority of the HAL only interested in correct answers. They are alway checking whether they are correct. When ask to explain and justify (Math Talk) they are not proficient in doing it. Some willing to try to do the Math Talk but there are those who are not really keen to try.

Who do we really consider as HAL students? There is a range. Some students may be good because they are drilled and have good discipline in their learning. Some who are actually smart and can grasp the concept fast, can be very active and not productive.

Put up math puzzles in the classroom to engage HAL students after they have completed their work.

How do we seamlessly engage our HAL at the same time ensure that the others are able to be engaged with their activities?

Sometimes, we do have HAL coming up to us for answers or being too loud which can disrupt the lesson.

How do we follow up with activities or work given to the HAL so that they can be stretched further or extent their learning further?

Give them a corner to collect and submit the work

choose open task and give them a target to achieve so they stay engaged.

Let them support their peers

Give opportunities for them to present their work in class

Are there any pooled school resources repository for HAL in OPAL that all teachers can tap on?

Some Pri HAL are already learning Secondary school syllabus… individually they are really strong in math ..they need to be provided with more opportunities to do more group work and communicate their ideas in class discussions…
