         <description><![CDATA[<div>As stated in the book 'Distruptive Design' by Leyla Acaroglu, greek philosopher Heraclitus said "the only constant in life is change". When the only thing in the world that remains the same is change it means that any invention ever created will 'go out of style'. It will eventually get old or something will come along that is more efficient, or it may no longer be needed in a world full of change anymore. The reason that this topic is relevant in Disruptive Design is because DD is meant to create a positive change to global problems</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The design method is split into 3 major steps in order to change the invention from a negative effect in society to a positive one. The first step begins with mining, what the author describes as "diving deep into the underlying elements, issues and components of the problem arena you are seeking to make change within". Problem arenas are areas of the invention that you need to pay closer attention to. By sectioning off areas to look closer into detail at smaller problems and focus on how it is effecting the product to give it a negative outcome. </div>]]></description>

The second phase is known for connecting the elements together. From the first step you identify what is a positve node and a negative node. So, take out all the negative nodes and find a way to combine all the positives together. In this phase you need to learn how to identify the nodes and figure out how all the interconnected parts can work together</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The last step is to work in the problem arena to get a postive solution. It is the final step in the design of the product. To ensure that the design works you need to make sure that it actually has a positive impact on changing the global problems we face in society. As mentioned in the book "there are also infinite possibilites to make change within your scope of achievablity" and so if the final step of building is unsuccessful, there will be plenty of different ways that will work to have a positive impact.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Week 2 was focusing on the Landscaping Step of the Disruptive Design Method. This is going to be the step after you already figure out the problems and need to find a way to make sure the positives aren't going to be used to make another negative. What I mean by that is in the mining process all the problems are taken out of the arena. Meaning that we are only left with the positves of this design. So now we have to make sure that when the positives are put together they remain to have a positive effect and don't change to become negative. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>How are they negative?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A reason that reassurance can be a positive and negative is because being told "you're beautiful" in a commented picture can make you feel great and on top of the world. Unfortunately, you can type anything in the comment box. And a negative comment could take a major hit on your mentality and make you depressed because it makes you believe you're nothing. It's things like these that need to be taken out from the arena and turned in to a way to make the design (social media) into a better platform. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I believe that every problem has a solution, it just depends on how much effort you put into this problem to change it. Using the comment box as an example, I believe that everyone should have a private account where the account owner needs to allow you to follow them. Now that is already in place, sadly it is not required. I believe that a lot of people allow their profiles to be public to get more traffic running through their profile to gather more likes. I believe that having all accounts to be private, not only will it lower the amount of stalking but it will also lower the amount of negative comments because the profile owner trusts the people enough to follow them. </div>]]></description>

Per the Disruptive Design Process, I am curious about your question of seeing examples. If it is that different people approach the Disruptive Design Process in different ways, in a non-linear, iterative manner, how would seeing someone else put it into practice help you to integrate it into a project? With something so individualistic, would an example even be useful or just force your mind into a linear box that cannot be broken out of?</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This week on our design assignment we had to come up with two prototypes that would have the same outcome but would need to be done in different ways. The design I made had to do with gathering and storing enough energy in a trailer while it is moving to be able to power it the whole time you're camping. I decided to used kinetic energy with both of the prototypes since the energy would be gathered while the trailer was moving. So, the only question for me became how could I use what a camping trailer design already has and use that to create a moving motion to gather the energy.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Prototype 1</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>While reading about what a hypothesis is in this weeks assignment I knew my prototypes had to be realistic on how the design would work. I went to the tires on a trailer first to be able to gather energy that way. I thought of examples like a windmill and hamster wheel creating energy and thought creating energy from the tires would be the best solution. This way all the camper would need to worry about is driving to the destination and by the time they set up the energy would already be gathered.  The only con for this design that I have assessed would be the maintanence on it would be a little more difficult. Where most of the parts would be under the trailer it just makes it a little harder for it to be accessable. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Prototyple 2</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In my opinion, I feel like prototype 2 is a little more basic, but sometimes the less thought out ideas can be the better ones. For this design I decided to use turbines that would be connected to the top of the trailer. This design would focus more on gathering energy from the wind that will be gathered while driving to the camping destination. Still has the outcome as the first prototype that will allow the camper to have power in their trailer the whole trip. I found that this prototype would be a little easier to access if their were any mechanical problems that needed to take care of, as well as have the ability to make the turbines bigger or smaller depending on how much energy the trailer needed. With prototype one in order to change the amount of energy gathered you would need to change the size of the tires, which on a trailer need to be a certain size as well as more expensive if you were to make the change.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Week 4</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This week we had to finish up our journals on science and technology and examples of it being used in our daily routine and how it has an effect on you. The three different examples I used were all pretty different in terms of how I use the technology, but what they all have in common is their convenience. My three examples were the internet, virtual doctors appointments (video chat), and video games. One reason why these three pieces of technology are so important to me is because they all accomidate with the way I live life on a day to day basis. Being convenient helps me be able to take a lot of stress off my shoulders by freeing up a lot of time it might take me to research information I can find on the internet, or drive to an appointment, or communicate with a long distance friend. All these three pieces of technology have the convenience of being able to be ran in your house. Keeping less traffic on the street, in stores, and at work, especially during a global pandemic.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the lessons I learned during this assignment was that everyone will have a different view on technology, as well as how much each person uses it. For me, I find technology to be quite the necessity based on things I need to do during the day. While other people may be living a life that doesn't involve the needs of technology as much. But, whether you like it or not our society is becoming overran with technology and won't stop. As we become more advanced and learn more and invent more our society will only come out with new inventions involving technology. Taking a step forward into the future with more trial and error, we will see how important technology will become. </div>]]></description>

Without even noticing, it has become something that I depend on in order to go about my daily routine. It intrigues me to see how I will start to rely on different pieces of technology as I get older without even noticing a change.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This week I was looking into how we as a society are making an impact on global warming and what alternate solutions we could do to change the outcome. One of the main things I was looking into was finding a new energy source. A source of energy that comes from the earth but won't affect the natural causes that reflect the atmosphere and surface. A couple solutions that I found that could change the way we go about finding energy is using more solar energy to control our world. Solar energy comes from the sun and is able to gather the energy from panels that are in places with high sun access. Energy gathered from the wind turbines are able to able to become generators that give us electic power. These are able to gather energy in places where high winds occur. Hydropower is power that is created from the rapid rivers that you'll see in canyons, these are able to gather power based on the high speeds of the water going downhill. Lastly, nuclear energy is gathered from splitting atoms by heat, being able to generate energy through a turbine. The reason this source of energy is so important is because it can generate a lot of energy without burning fossil fuels because it uses uranium instead. Using renewable energy that we get from the earth instead of deep in the earth will be a small affect on changing climate change and causing less natural disasters in the world today. </div>]]></description>
