-As a teacher, I need to "...present scenarios outlining real-world problems that are relevant to students..." (Crockett, Jukes, & Churches, 2011).
-Examples (health education) include: creating personal fitness plans and evaluating one's own nutrition.
-I tend to focus every semester on creating a personal fitness plan students create so they begin (and continue) to become physically active.
-The personal fitness plan will provide structure so they can adapt it to their individual needs and responsibilities as a high school student.

-The most difficult to implement is Discover because far too often my students (high school health education) think with blinders on and cannot comprehend that all decisions made matter for present and future consequences.
-For example, when students are associating with peers who do not have solid and appropriate life goals and behaviors, they fail to see how that can impact how others perceive them as well as their own actions and thoughts.

-Health education is a very personal subject, however, it is important for students to be able to critique their own actions and behaviors as well as those of others.
-Communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills are important to develop in students.
-They can "required in
order to contribute as a member of society, operate effectively in post-secondary institutions, and be competitive in the global market" (Carlgren, 2013).
-A specific strategy to target these necessary skills would be to devote an entire unit to teaching them
-Currently, I focus on the skills only when "teachable moments" occur as they are not built directly into the curriculum

-I would like, as mentioned in the video about essential questions, for students to be able to have "self-discovery" (Authentic Education, 2013).
-One example is implementation of the Genius Hour (GH) project.
-Students would be able to choose a topic of their own to study and research while creating their own final product.
-Instead of telling them what to learn AND telling them what to create (like a report), students have the "self-discovery" moment because they are in control of what they learn.
-This would allow them to demonstrate the 6 D's, especially the Dream and Deliver aspects, because they would be able to use a variety of sources and thought processes.

-Students may be "stuck" in old ways of learning and expecting teachers to demonstrate "how smart they are" (Crockett, Jukes, & Churches, 2011).
-The implementation of appropriate rubrics presents a challenge because students are not typically "involved in the assessment process" (Crockett, Jukes, & Churches, 2011).
-However, solution fluency provides an opportunity to improve and enhance the curriculum. Curriculums provide a place to start when designing lessons because teachers must know and comprehend their meaning and they are designed with standards in mind (Crockett, Jukes, & Churches, 2011).
