Questions I had while reading were :

Why is the main character not up to a job Rene (one of her good friends) gave her ?

Because at first it seemed like she was happy to have the job.

When one of her friends passes away she can only see negatives . My question is :

Can she find the good in this situation?

When the main character makes a comparison to how the queen feels about hats I got confused , so my question was "How does the queen feel about hats?'".

I can infer that something bad might happen in her life and that she will have trouble finding the good in what happened. I can infer this because she has been tell stories about how other people have found the good in a bad things , but hasnt said anythign about her own life.

An image I could see in my head while reading was when Granny was getting described. This is because when they described her they used colors , specific items and sizes of items. For example, when they were describing Granny they said "she was wearing a large red batting helmet and shin guards." This made me vision her as looking like a softball catcher. Another image I could vision was when they described Granny's dog because instead of just saying she had a dog the author said the color of the dog and the breed. In my head I saw a gray cattle-dog mix.

Summary

"Find The Good" shows a new way to view problems. Heather (the main character) is an obituary writer and is put up to many problems/ set backs that she needs to handle. Some problems are bigger than others and sometimes she has a lot of trouble finding the good. One example is when she moves into a cabin that the owner before had passed away. She had a lot of trouble finding the good, and by looking through cards that were left over she realized that the owner was cared about by many and probably had a great life. This is just one of many examples of the situations she was put in through out the story.

I enjoy the author's writing craft because she makes the writing more fun to read. For example , "The weather chased everyone indoors." The author chose to use personification to make the sentence more interesting. Also the author uses similes to put an image in your mind. For example , "... now it looks like the end of a three-family rummage sale."

So far the main character (the mom) seems to like her job which is writing news stories and obituaries. This has made her realize the good in all the stories.

My thoughts on Granny is that she is outgoing , true to herself , doesn't care what others think and maybe a little different. This is because in the text it says she was wearing a helmet and shin guards to church and not many people would wear that to church.

I think the theme of this book is that there is always a positive in a negative. I also think it is that bad things can bring out the best in people . An example in the book was when lives were saved at the Boston Marathon because of bystanders that risked their life going toward the explosions. The explosions were the bad and the people who came and helped out were the good that was brought out.

Overall I thought this was a great book. This book brought out new perspectives on problems. Usually people only see the negatives in a situation , but Heather Lende brings out the positive in negatives situations. This book also was a fun book to read. It had a lot of emotion at some parts it was funny but at others it was sad. Also this book had good writing craft. There were lots of parts with figurative language; this made the story more enjoyable to read. Overall this was a good read.

This section is about the goal I think the author had while writing this. I think the author's goal was to show the readers a new way to view things , and to still make it an enjoyable read. If this was the authors goal, I think she did a great job. She definitely showed me a new way to view things and I had a good time reading the book.
