Hello, mathematicians!

Welcome to 10th Grade Geometry! In this course, we will explore the world of mathematics in the visual space using the Algebra skills you learned last year in Algebra I!

Before we begin any new content, I want you to realize something incredibly important. There is no one way to find "the correct answer" in geometry. In numerous circumstances, there are several routes you can take...and that is okay! That is the beauty of this real-world application of math.

Together, let's collaborate on a task that showcases this essential idea. This requires no new geometry content. Use your prior knowledge!

Examine the image above. How many boxes are unshaded? Your job is to think of three separate ways you can find the total amount of unshaded boxes. Think of your prior knowledge from previous courses! Post each method as a separate post under a separate column. (Your first method in the "Method 1" column, your second method in the "Method 2 column, etc.) Then, comment on one other student's post who used a method you did not discuss yourself.

By doing this, you will see how many ways there can be to arrive at an answer in geometry! (There are SEVERAL ways of arriving at this answer!) Sometimes it is not the answer that is substantial, as that may not change, but it is the process of getting there! Try your best to not copy someone's work, but if someone happens to use the same method as you, that is okay!
