The background of this poster is meant to resemble decorative stone slates that would be found in a royal garden. This background was chosen because Claudius kills the king, Hamlet Sr. while the king is asleep in the garden. There are no plants or flowers in the garden background because, after this act of betrayal, the garden turns from an oasis to the site of a murder. That is why the only thing left of the garden is stone. The poison is falling from a goblet onto the crown. The goblet represents Claudius and the human instinct to be greedy. All humans subconsciously let their greet take control of them. This idea is shown in the poster through the poison falling, but the liquid not reaching the end of the cup. Claudius's greed consumed him, and this let his primal instincts take control of him. He may not have even realized the severity of what he did until after he had satisfied his greed. The crown represents Hamlet Sr. the current king but also the whole monarchy of Denmark. The poison is black because it is a symbol of death, destruction and betrayal. The crown is also black because, after Claudipus's action, betrayal, death and greed consume the crown.

This poster depicts Hamlet's body as well as a cracked crown that completely covers his head. Hamlet's clothes and the background are both colored black which symbolizes the sorrow Hamlet feels after the loss of his father. Hamlet sets himself apart from the rest of the court by continuing to wear black long after everyone else has come out of mourning. This contrast is furthered by the crown being shown in color. The crown is on Hamlet's head because the central conflict of the book is Hamlet's inner struggle, where he must decide if he should kill Claudius to get revenge for the death of his father. The crown on Hamlet's head is still cracked because killing Claudius does undo the original betrayal. If Hamlet were to kill Claudius and survive as he had planned, he would ascend to the throne and receive the crown, but the crown would still be tainted. The crack furthers the idea that revenge does not satisfy the human soul. Deep down, he would know what he did was wrong, and even though he had gotten revenge, he would not feel complete. This feeling would eventually consume him as it had done to Claudius. This is why the crown swallows Hamlet's head. If one looks closely at the cracks in the crown, one can see that there are small pieces missing from the break. The crown does not perfectly line up because if one tried to reassemble the monarchy and do the right thing no matter what they did, and it would never be the same. There is always a part of the crown that will stay broken. This chain of brokenness can not be undone by revenge, or another crime will continue to consume whoever wears the crown leaving it forever broken.

The ghost is Hamlet's father, Hamlet Sr. and symbolizes the instability and corruption of Denmark. In the play, the ghost appears before Hamlet and tells him that Claudius murdered the king and instructs him to get revenge. The font used to write the title of the play is not very neat and slanted to symbolize the weakening of the monarchy. Hamlet is featured in the center of the poster. He is a dark red to symbolize his anger and hatred toward Claudius. Hamlet seeing the ghost alters the plot of the story as it leads Hamlet on a path to seek revenge. Hamlet spends the entire story debating and plotting his revenge. The sword that the ghost holds is a symbol of Hamlet's quest for revenge as well as family loyalty. Humans will do almost anything for the people they care about, and Hamlet wants to avenge his father, but at the same time, he faces this inner conflict that lasts most of the story because he does not want innocent blood on his hands.

The skull on this poster belongs to Ophelia. After Polonius dies, Ophelia goes mad. She begins to pass flowers out to those around her. Ophelia says, "There’s fennel for you, and columbines.—There’s rue for you, and here’s some for me. We may call it “herb of grace” o' Sundays.—Oh, you must wear your rue with a difference.—There’s a daisy. I would give you some violets, but they withered all when my father died. They say he made a good end" (4.5.173-175). These flowers and plants are coming out of Ophelia's skull. The flowers are for the majority violets because that is the type of flower Laertes said he hoped would grow from her grave. Violets are a symbol of innocence and remembrance. They also symbolize Laeretes's love for his sister and how he wants her to be remembered well. He was distraught with her burial has she was not given a proper funeral and burial as she was believed to have killed herself. The white background is a symbol for Ophelia going crazy and her lack of soul and reason.
